Have you shopped at Kohl’s before? I’ve heard of them but never shopped there, but be on the lookout b/c Kohl’s has caught on with the frenzy of designer collaborations and tapped Vera Wang to create a collection that launches the first week of September, Simply Vera by Vera Wang. The collaboration with Kohl’s includes apparel, jewelry, shoes, hosiery, intimates, belts, handbags, home and, come the third delivery, eyewear. The designer said that Simply Vera is “ageless” and “swings both ways,” her inspiration of the line came from dressing her two daughters and herself. The fit is more forgiving than contemporary lines, and sizes range from 2 to 16, or small to extra-large.
The product delivers edgy fashion at the moderate level, with “Vera-isms” like tulle detailing, roses and ruched belts — “things that have become our signatures,” in Wang’s words — evident throughout the dresses, coats, silky tops, shoes and scarves. A brocade car coat will retail for $138 and a silky dress goes for $128, while most of the line will sell for $30 to $70. From the preview it looks very promising already, even though there are a roster of other designers collaborating to create “cheaper” lines, I don’t mind it. I can’t wait to see the full collection. via WWD.
More preview pics after the jump…

Posted By: eunice | May 11th, 2007 at 6:19 amTHANK YOU!!!I’ve been looking for preview pics ever since I heard about this. Gonna hit the Kohl’s at Queens Mall and hopefully they have it, too.
Posted By: erikka | May 11th, 2007 at 8:54 amhonestly i rolled my eyes at another celeb designer doing another cheap line of clothing. but i rather like the pics. the black dress, is pretty cool. there’s a kohls by my mom’s house in southern cal. I may stop in… for some reason i always thougth it was like home depot… guess i was wrong!
Posted By: lady coveted | May 11th, 2007 at 10:47 pmnobody is saying that her name isn’t Vera, but the similarity between a brand that has been around a long time called “Vera”, and one called “Simply Vera” can become quite confusing, because they basically mean the exact same thing. I’m sure that some people are already in the habit of referring to the original Vera brand as “just Vera” or something similar since Vera Wang has come around.
Posted By: kangsta | May 12th, 2007 at 12:39 am@ Erikka (had my URL wrong, doh!) - I just blogged about this on Industry Girl (that retailers were flocking to this strategy and that I think it’ll oversaturate and push consumers away). It’s intersting to see your post
Posted By: Patricia | May 13th, 2007 at 1:45 pmOMG!!! I was just at the store today and checked out the line. I was skeptical at first because sometime you wonder if the quality would be cheap, but I love then entire line! I could have gone crazy and purchased everything. The line is edgy and a prefect price point for the price conscious women that love fashion like myself. I love Vera Wang’s style ever since I was a design student in college. How genius of her to collaborate with Kohls I love it. I bought the $69.00 SV medium hobo handbag and just love it too! Check it out the construction of the clothes are awesome and the fit I love as well.
I love your blog. I will always love fashion and would like to keep up to date on the trends. I will definitely come back again!
