On my 3rd day in Hong Kong I swungby Sneaker Street with B, he wanted to check out the kicks. Sneaker Street is street dedicated to all sneakerheads, I believe it starts off at Fa Yuen Street in Mongkok, at least that’s where I always start. Sneaker Street has store after store of sneakers, it’s crazy but I find that a lot of the stores carry the same stuff – I didn’t buy sneakers that day. I noticed that sequins seems to be quite popular on sneakers in HK, not only did they have most of the Converse All Star Sequins sneakers I’ve mentioned previously, they also have similar ones by Hello Kitty. There’s also a very cute pair of Converse Wedge Sneakers available at Dahood (funny name haha), I’m debating on getting them – what you guys think? Check out the pics after the jump…

nice pictures. what camera are you using?
I heard they are going to shut it all down and make a mall! =(
Do the shoes cost more in Hong Kong then in the U.S?
I just wanted to know if it is hard to communicate there if you don’t speak the language? Could I go there speaking only english and get by?????
Thanks,
Lady H
Some of the local people selling in small shops won't speak english well. But generally you could get by with English in HK. Like, on the main mode of transport, MTR, there's english everywhere. and i'm sure in malls and things, ppl would speak English. Just the older people selling stuff on the streets might not.
i love the hello kittys! .. o0h i need to make a trip hong kong.. but by the time i did id be to old to even wear that stuff.. haha wanna buy it for me??? and ill pay you backkk lol =]
josie ~ i’m using the canon powershot 800is
cheesecake ~ i didn’t look at the prices, should be about the same
lady h ~ a lot of people speak english and all the signs have english, tons of tourists there so theres def no problem with communication
renaye ~ sorry i’ll be having so much luggage, i can’t help anyone buy stuff
Is the exchange rate good in HK? I def like the wedge converse too.
Yeah, the Converse Wedges are soo cool!!! I love to wear Converse with a pretty and cute dress, but sometimes this is not as dressy as required for some occasions. So they would make the perfect compromise, wouldn’t they?
Of course they would also look fantastic with a classic black leggings! Love them!♥
the converse wedges are definitely hot. they were only released in japan but i was able to cop them in l.a. at a japanese owned sneaker shop. they’re just as comfy as the originals. get em!
i think the converse wedges are cute, go for it!
how odd! i am traveling in hk too…and checking your website while you are posting in hk. anyway, i dont look half as stylish as you are while traveling, in fact, i look quite dowdy most of the time compared to the trendy people here. i am overwhelmed by the amount of choices when it comes to shopping here, hope you will have better luck! more shopping tomorrow!
is sneaker street kowloon still there?? im travelling their in may 2008
is there anyway i could order a pair of these shoes online, and if so, where?
i am from adelaide australia and pleased to inform all that sneaker street is still alive and kicking…i recently got back from a 6 day holiday to hong kong, my first destination..fa yuen st. found some nice pairs of air max 90s and also sm rare but pricey air structures. frequently repeated stock however a must for sneaker heads
question.
are these shoes original or fake? very curious, appreciate it if someone would answer hehe, thx!!!
are those shoes cheap?are there fake nikes?
najlepsze converse sequins różowe!!!! <3333
Hi, I love the converse wedge! Could anyone please tell me where I can buy them??Does any webshop carry them???
I would really love to buy a pair
i've been to hongkong for so many times…..i;ve even stayed there for like 10 years or so…the shoes in there are all legit 100% real and genuine and are of good quality….you don't even have to think about the term 'fake' in sneaker street – mong kok…..But if you like a shoe then don't buy it instantly because there are so many shops in there and there might be a better shoe n other shops….so i recommend you to take a picture of the shop or note down the shop's name and if you can't find a shoe better than that then go back to the shop and then buy it……but i bet you will find many shoes better than the first chosen one….
