This past weekend at the ALIFE Sessions: Three 6 Mafia & Aux Raus event I was introduced to Mika Hatsushima, a New York-based designer of Cream (Cream of the Crop). Mika has years of experience traveling the world in the high fashion business, she was a model in Japan. Her designs derived from her “intellectual curiosity for street culture, pop art, food, architecture, cartoons and classic films”. With a successful Spring debut collection of scratch ‘n sniff tees, Cream released it’s Summer collection in the themes of: Cream, Creamy Sweetness and Marin De Cream. Remember back in the days when you had those scratch ‘n sniff stickers? They’re the same concept except you don’t need to scratch the tees, the scent lasts for about ten washes. Scents range from raspberry, fresh air, vanilla, strawberry and coconut. Very cute concept, something different from the women’s streetwear out right now. The tees are kawaii, I like the Marin De Cream line! Great for Summer especially when you’re sweating so much haha! Cream is currently available at Union (NYC), Charlotte Ronson (NYC), Candy (Tokyo), Divine (Hong Kong) and online at Karmaloop.com. More pics after the jump…
Signature Series – Cream: Whipped cream logo and varsity. Popular designs from the previous season are continued in new colorways.
Creamy Sweetness: Mika’s morning ritual; a cup of coffee at her favorite café in the Lower East Side.
Marin De Cream: “Breathless”, a masterpiece of the French Nouvelle Vague, is the inspiration source of this French marine series.
