With just one image surfaced on the web last week, it got everyone hyped up. Now NYLON has a more extensive preview of the Jonathan Saunders for Target Collection which is slated to release in early October and available throughout the month at Target and the Bullseye Bodegas in Manhattan. Everything is so cute, I can’t wait!! The full collection preview should be available anytime this month, stay tuned! Are you anticipating this collection? Any favorite pieces? It looks good–but I’ll have to see the pieces in person. I’m not sure how wearable they are, or how they will fit into my wardrobe… I am digging the brown trim jacket, and high waisted purple (?) skirt though.

Omg, I love reading the comments section! You guys always have really cool, smart things to say.
AND I LOVE THE BOOTS TOO! Even better than that, I can id them for you! They’re Target! In the ads and previews, Target only uses Target merchandise. So keep your eyes peeled cause the boots will be coming soon. But if you guys want the real thing: they are a knock offs of Fiorentini and Baker from a couple seasons ago. F&B sells through Barney’s. They’re serious business; the boots are in the neighborhood of six and seven hundred dollars. Currently there are a pair of to-die-for Fiorentini and Baker boots are in all of the Barney’s Coop ads. (The ad with Du Juan that says “denium for days”…)
Trust me, I know all about boots! I’ve been hunting boots since the send of June to get ready for fall. (Which is all kind of silly cause I live in LA and everyone just wears Havianas like eleven point nine-nine months out of the year). Let me tell you what I’ve been found. Madewell 1937 has a cute pair of flat ankle boots. Here’s a link if you guys want to see. Scroll till you get to look number 9. $228. Not bad.

Me personally I’m really hesitant about buying Target shoes and bags. When I see them in person, they look so obviously cheap. I’m talking about material and construction cause the look is almost always adorable. But they don’t ever last and they wear so terribly!!!! With my accessories, I don’t like to do disposable fashion. I’ll invest into fewer pieces but ones that I will wear till i’m old and crooked!

And now for the clothes: I’ve loved Jonathan Saunders ever since he hit the landscape. His collections have a cool graphic vibe about them (even when he and his sister do things like floaty pink skirts). I think with this line he was going for art house/gallerina… but it just looks busy and complicated. And odd. For instance, the girl wearing a black jumper with a red belt and white long sleeve underneath. She looks like a reject from X-Men 3. And the girl wearing the Jackson Pollack jacket. Difficult.
But on the other hand the brown trim jacket looks great. So too the outfit in the second picture (before the jump). I always pick up at least one piece from Target’s designer collaboration. I thought Richard Chai was the best collection to come along since Proenza. But it’s hard to tell from the pictures alone. As always you have to see it in person. And figure out what is a must have and what’s just non-sense.

I copped some similar boots from topshop. They look almost identical. I got them last winter, but they may have some left. It is worth checking if you have the time.

I agree completely about the lack of outerwear. I think the GO lines have become smaller all together. There used to be purses and accessories, remember all the Luella stuff?!? And they used to have one leather jacket from each designer from luella, tara jarmon, paul and joe, behnaz and proenza, i think that ended with Patrick Robinson? In fact I think the whole GO concept got tarnished when they had his line. Since then It’s been kind of bleh. Temperley was nice, and libertine, jovovich was the worst. I didn’t get into Rogan really, the new next now seems like a snow job. I’m psyched for Saunders though. I like this stuff, it is different.
