OPI Suede Collection Fall 2009

OPI released a new nail polish collection for fall 2009 called Suede featuring the look of lush suede in six best-selling OPI shades. The matte + shimmer nail polish collection is available in six iconic OPI shades: Russian Navy, You Don’t Know Jacques!, Lincoln Park After Dark, Suzi Skis in the Pyrenees, OPI Ink and We’ll Always Have Paris. Like the matte collection, to maintain the Suede by OPI finish, OPI recommends to not use any base coat, top coat, drying drops, or hand lotion when wearing these lacquers. I have yet to try the Suede nail polishes yet but I want to, looks really nice.

“Suede by OPI elevates nails to a new dimension of fashion, as exciting as a pair of stiletto-heeled suede pumps,” says Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Executive VP & Artistic Director. “The rich suede look is a stunning complement to fall fashions, and is meant for the woman who is confident about her style and wants to stand out. Suede by OPI does not wear as long as original OPI Nail Lacquer – but it is a totally original look you’ll want to own this season!”

Do you like the Suede collection? The collection is currently available in professional salons, including Beauty Brands, Beauty First, Dillard’s, JCPenney, Pure Beauty, Regis, Trade Secret, Ulta and Amazon.comOPI Suede Collection Fall 2009.

Sarah Jessica Parker’s Newest Fragrance, SJP NYC

Sarah Jessica Parker is launching another fragrance with Coty Prestige, called SJP NYC, which was inspired by her “Sex and the City” alter ego, Carrie Bradshaw. According to WWD, Coty’s already working with the Sex and The City movie producers and distributors to leverage the relationship, details of the plan are still in development, although in-store appearances and promotions tied to the movie’s premiere are planned. The fruity floral scent created by Parker and Firmenich’s Honorine Blanc, has top notes of Italian mandarin, white osmanthus and wild red strawberries; a heart of gardenia, honeysuckle, mimosa and red rose damascenia, and a drydown of sandalwood, vanilla absolute, rum flavor and creamy musks.

The collection consists of eaux de toilette in three sizes — 15 ml. for $25, 30 ml. for $35 and 60 ml. for $49 — as well as a 200-ml. body lotion for $25. A cuff bracelet with solid perfume, tentatively priced at $35, will follow in May. SJP NYC will bow first in Macy’s 750 doors in February. In May, coinciding with the release of the second ‘Sex and the City’ movie, the fragrance will expand its reach to an additional 1,500 department and specialty store doors in the U.S., and to 16 countries for a total of about 10,000 doors worldwide at full distribution.

“A large part of the inspiration was what I now understand to be people’s impressions of seeing Carrie Bradshaw walk down the street and what feelings that evokes for her and for them — a real sense of freedom and possibilities, a love for the city around her and, of course, fashion,” Parker told WWD. “We started with this idea that we wanted to create something fun. We wanted to create a party in a bottle and reflect that in the packaging with a real sense of whimsy, fun and joie de vivre. And then we took it from there. Portability and fashion played key roles in the development of the packaging and overall concept.”

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Heidi Klum wearing Saks Fifth Avenue Key To The Cure Tee ($40)

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, as a woman I support it fully especially this year since my aunt-in-law was diagnosed with breast cancer. Lots of brands created special products for sale and are giving a percentage of the proceeds to help with breast cancer research. If there’s any products you think I should add, hit me up and I’ll add them to this post! Thanks.

Saks Fifth Avenue launches the annual KEY TO THE CURE shopping event October 15-18 featuring limited edition T-shirt designed by Michael Kors, over $30 from your purchase of this cotton tee will benefit local women’s cancer charities. Heidi Klum is the ambassador for the campaign. Saks Fifth Avenue will donate 2% of sales up to $250,000 over the shopping weekend (10/15/09-10/18/09) to local and national women’s cancer charity partners. Shop on!

La Prairie Life Threads Fragrance

Last month I was invited to the La Prairie breakfast launch of their new fragrance, Life Threads. The breakfast presentation included a screening of their “fragrance fantasies” mini-films, which can be watched on lifethreads.com, and we got to smell the fragrances firsthand. The Life Threads fragrance trilogy includes a Silver, Gold and Platinum scent packaged in a unique thread-wrapped bottle according to it’s scent (color). The three fragrances expresses a different stage of a woman’s life, “one that can shimmer her world into Silver; one to drive success and go for the Gold; one that makes Platinum the power center for her dreams.” The Silver scent is floral woody, Gold scent is spicy Oriental and Platinum scent is elegant and edgy chypre floral, each bottle retail at $125 for 1.7fl oz bottle. I really like the bottle, the clear lucite bottle with threads woven around it is really pretty. My favorite of the three is the Silver scent, a floral woody fragrance consisting of top notes: green leaves and golden bergamot; heart notes: tuberose, pimento, Indian Jasmine, orange blossom and ylang ylang; and bottom notes: rare sandalwood, cherished vetiver, solar musk and peppery moss.

The fragrance launch capitalizes on a multi-media plan, including a partnership with NYC singer/songwriter Lucy Kaplansky and a specially penned “Life Threads” song, which will be played on the Life Threads site. You can learn more about the fragrances and purchase at laprairie.com.
