This past Tuesday I attended the 16th Annual QVC Presents “FFANY Shoes on Sale” cocktail event where Jessica Simpson, Real Housewives of NYC’s Kelly Bensimon, Royal Pain’s Reshma Shetty, Ugly Betty’s Mark Indelicato, Howard Stern’s wife and model Beth Ostrosky, designer Isaac Mizrahi and more came out for some shoe shopping. QVC and the Fashion Footwear Association of New York (FFANY) joined forces for a charitable shoe sale to benefit breast cancer research and education. The sale (which went live on QVC), in honor of breast cancer awareness month offered shoes at half the manufacturer’s suggested retail price. In addition to the October 13th scheduled broadcast, shoppers may contribute to the cause by purchasing the “Shoe of the Day,” offered each weekday throughout the month of October on QVC from 7 AM to 9 AM (EST). A special collection of shoes will also be available online, at QVC.com throughout the month. In addition, Jessica Simpson, the 2009 QVC Presents “FFANY Shoes on Sale” PSA Spokesperson, is unveiling her collection of shoes, accessories and handbags on QVC on October 19th, so be sure to check up on that. Timberland have teamed up with Wyclef Jean to created a collection of boots to promote the importance of preserving and protecting the environment with a focus on reforestation in Haiti. The Earthkeepers Yéle Haiti Collection, a 16-boot footwear collection devised by Timberland and Wyclef Jean, is slated to launch late November. For every pair sold, $2 will be donated to Wyclef’s Yéle Haiti Foundation to support reforestation in Haiti. The collection of eco-conscious footwear, made from recycled and organic materials, will be available globally for men, women and kids. In addition to the boots, “Tree” tee shirts designed by Haitian art students from the FOSAJ Art School in Jacmel, Haiti will be sold in Timberland stores and on timberland.com. For each tee shirt sold, $1 will go to the Yéle Haiti Foundation to support reforestation and art programs in Haiti. Last night was the launch event, where Wyclef gave an amazing 1 hour concert to an intimate crowd. The boots are nice, I like! Wyclef is one of six Earthkeeper Heroes within the company’s 2009 Earthkeepers program, which aims to catalyze a movement of environmental and social activists. A first for both Wyclef Jean and Timberland, this innovative partnership will fuse music, product, digital and social media, service events and concerts to motivate and inspire consumers to take action in protecting the environment. Yesterday, you’ve got a sneak peek of Shoe Woo, last night I went by 59th and Lex for the opening party and indulged in all the yummy h’ordeuvres, got my nails did and of course saw tons of shoes tempting me. Shoe Woo is a new shopping destination where multi-shoe brands are all under one roof: Nine West, Rachel Rachel Roy, Enzo Angiolini, Circa Joan & David, AK Anne Klein, Sam & Libby, Boutique 9, Bandolino and Joan & David. The store has two levels and is fun and filled with lots of shoes, like Shoe Woo says, “you’ll feel like a kid in a candy store”. The store is designed to look like an attic within a house, with antique furniture and unfinished walls, the window display is super cute too. The store officially opens to the public today Thursday, October 1st, at the corner of 59th and Lexington Avenue (where the old Nine West used to be, 750 Lexington Ave). Happy shopping! Last Tuesday, Gossip Girl star Taylor Momsen appeared as a special guest at the Clinique Fresh Faces Tour kick-off in Union Square, along with Lynne Greene, President of Clinique Worldwide and Teen Vogue Editor-in-Chief Amy Astley at 4pm. The event was a huge success with 200 young women making it through the Mobile Beauty Studio and getting their hair and makeup done by professionals! I couldn’t resist the pampering and went through the process, I love getting my makeup and hair done professionally. As the Clinique makeup artists apply makeup, they also teach you how to apply it so you can create the same look yourself. I loved how my makeup and hair came out, the Mobile Beauty Studio is so fun and fresh! Love! Definitely swing by if they’re stopping in your city and get pampered! The Clinique “Mobile Beauty Studio” will be traveling across the country, providing young women with the opportunity to experience star treatment. This Mobile Beauty Studio will have makeup and hair stations and a mini-studio with a fashion photographer for an on-site photo shoot so participants can enroll in the Clinique Fresh Faces search. There will also be a convenient Clinique boutique and a lounge area with laptops so girls can post their new headshots on Facebook and hop on Twitter. This is a 10-city tour stop, with the final stop ending on November 6th in LA. Last week, MCM launched their new MCM New York Collection designed by Joy Gryson at Saks Fifth Avenue during NYFW which attracted a fashionable crowd. The event was hosted by Coco Rocha and DJ Harley Viera Newton provided the beats, I had a great time mingling with friends and also got to see the new bags up close, and of course tried on a few bags too. The collection is sold exclusively at Saks Fifth Avenue and the MCM Plaza boutique in New York. The collaboration is ongoing, with plans for a holiday and spring 2010 line.
