Nike Winter ‘08 NSW Collection Event

p1110667.jpg

This past Friday, October 24th, I was invited to celebrate the launch of the Winter ‘08 Nike NSW Collection with an evening of private shopping at the Nike Sportswear store at 21 Mercer Street. Guests got a chance to check out the line, which I’ve shown a preview of previously at (capsule), enjoy hors d’oeuvres, drinks and music. It was good times, the new women’s collection is an improvement from the past- definitely more wearable, I’d def rock ‘em!

COMME des GARCONS for H&M Party

p1110578.jpg
Gossip Girl Jessica Szohr and Me ~ she’s wearing a piece from the collection. FAB!

This week passed by very quickly, perhaps it was because I was looking forward to the COMME des GARCONS for H&M party that took place last night at Espace. Before knowing where the event was going to be held, I thought it would be a press preview at the H&M showroom like the one they had in LA. Instead they threw an amazing party with an open bar, yummy hors d’oeuvres and desserts passed around throughout the night. I’m not mad since I’ve already tried on the pieces at the showroom a couple of months back. Spotted Gossip Girl Jessica Szohr (she’s really nice and pretty), COMME des GARCONS for H&M campaign models: Cartwright Lee and Missy Rayder and Richie Rich but you can see the rest here- I didn’t get to see Maggie Gyllenhaal though.

Besides all the distractions, all eyes on the COMME des GARCONS for H&M Collection, you’ve seen it all already but I’ve shot close-ups of the actual garments with detailed pics of the limited $349 piece that everyone is talking about. I personally really really like it, I think the quality and construction of the suit/dress/jacket is amazing- the country manager of H&M was at the party dressed in that piece and it looked good- I want it!! All guests left with a gift bag, inside is the COMME des GARCONS for H&M Eau de Toilette (funny I checked eBay, I knew people would do this haha)! Great event as usual, big thanks to YM for helping me take pics!

H&M has also updated their website yesterday with the collection, prices (very reasonable) and locations of where to get each item- if you haven’t checked you should check out the virtual showroom, pretty dope.

Did You Watch The Premiere of Stylista?

I didn’t. Not that I didn’t want to but I was a bit tied up with work, if you did what did you think? Do you anticipate to watch episode 2 of Stylista? I’ll have to opt to download my episodes!

Episode 1 - Hidden Gems: The contestants are asked to dress mannequins for Anne using specific fashion points and while some are clearly capable, others fall very short. They are also separated into teams and asked to find a “hidden gem” in town, a place people haven’t discovered yet, and write it up for the magazine. Meanwhile, tensions rise and tempers flare, sending one contestant to the emergency room in an ambulance.

T-Mobile G1 NYC Launch Event Recap

Jackson (T-Mobile) and Me

This is a bit overdue but better late than never, last week after the Downshift Session 2008 Event I went by to the T-Mobile G1 NYC Launch Event at Skylight which was directly across the street from the Classic Car Club ~ sweet! Skylight was pretty amazing, I missed the live performance by The Raconteurs but DJ Cassidy was on the 1s and 2s when I got there (he’s dope) and we also got some additional hands-on time with the T-Mobile G1 before its launch, including new applications on the Android Market. The phone is pretty dope, I def want to spend a bit more time playing around with it.

T-Mobile parties always gets innovative with things, this time they included a Japanese market near the entrance filled with Japanese snacks, candies, drinks and yummies- I definitely spent a good deal of time there haha! Also, the space was filled with yummy hors d’oeuvres, irresistible- good thing I was a bit hungry! The crowd quite a mixed crowd, filled with fashionistas (dressed up), celebs (saw Jason Biggs) and a small fraction of Downshift guests were there as well. Dope event as usual, bigups to Jackson (T-Mobile)!!

Eminem “The Way I Am Book” Release Party at NORT/Recon

l1060425.jpg
50 Cent and Me (shot 1)

One of my favorite rappers EMINEM hosted an exclusive release party at NORT/Recon yesterday to celebrate his second book, The Way I Am. The book is a collection of Eminem’s photos, artwork, personal stories and lyrics- the book also comes with a DVD featuring unreleased interviews and personal footage of him. At NORT/Recon no pictures were allowed, whenever someone busted their camera out the big bodyguards would make sure you put it back, it’s ironic that it’s Eminem’s event and I couldn’t get a picture with him- instead I got one with 50 Cent. 50 is super nice, he stuck around when Eminem left and just did some interviews and took pics with people!! On the other side where there were drinks and music, we were allowed photos. Dope event, for once there’s no huge crowd and an insane line to get in- actually there wasn’t any. Bigups to Stash and John!

The Way I Am releases on October 21st, you can pre-order yours at Amazon.com.

Chanel Mobile Art Landed in New York!

When I was in Hong Kong I missed out on the Chanel Mobile Art Exhibition that Zaha Hadid designed and was pretty sad about it but the New York exhibition will make up for it! The Chanel Mobile Art pavilion has landed in Central Park’s Rumsey Playfield, “which houses 18 modern artists’ odes to the iconic Chanel 2.55 handbag, will open to the public on Monday.” As you can see the crew is still assembling the 700 part for Monday’s opening, the exhibition will depart on November 9th and online tickets are already booked up. For a chance to see the exhibition visit the on-site ticketing box office for limited same day ticketing (subject to availability). “The entire project was conceived as a celebratory event for the 50th anniversary of Coco Chanel’s quilted 2.55 handbag, launched in February 1955. Once inside the space, visitors meander through specially commissioned installations loosely inspired by the 2.55. Yoko Ono, Blue Noses, Sylvie Fleury and Lee Bul are among the 18 artists whose works are on display.”

“A torus is basically like a spiral,” she said of the exhibition’s home, which looks not unlike a grounded UFO. “You start where you begin, you begin where you end and move from one space to another. It sounds light, like you’re just going to float it around and land it somewhere, but it’s very complicated.”

Aside from the exhibition, there will be “four limited edition 2.55s — red patent, ivory and navy alligator, and a jumbo-size navy patent style, all signed by Lagerfeld — will be available at the firm’s 57th Street and SoHo stores. The bags are priced up to $31,500, while the exhibition is free, although apparently no less a limited edition.” via WWD

I can’t wait, did you guys book your tickets yet? I did!
