It’s been awhile since I’ve done an interview but good things are worth the wait. I met the ladies of DimePiece, Laura Marie and Ashley, in person last year during Magic, it was great to finally meet people that I’ve been talking through email for over a year. They’re sweet girls with great style. The duo have been working hard trying to keep up in the game, they’re basically a two person team so they do everything themselves, props to them. What really attracted me to their brand is when they introduced cut & sew, the leggings were fiyah. For the people that follow my blog already know that I’ve been rockin’ their L.A. Leggings and Scrabble Leggings a lot, I never get sick of them- plus people just keep asking about them every time I step out in them. I hope they continue to design more interesting leggings! Their LA style mixed with some vintage inspirations is what sets them apart from the rest of the female streetwear brands, very different and they’re daring to try new things. Be sure to lookout for their Spring 2009 collection which officially drops on March 18th, I’m totally looking forward to seeing it!

Sneak Peak: LTD Women’s Streetwear Roundtable Discussion

Yesterday I snuck out of the office early to meet up with LTD’s Hyun and Jan, Lanie (Hellz Bellz), Claudia (Claw Money) and Vashtie (Violette) at The Sixth Ward for a women’s streetwear roundtable discussion and photoshoot by Jesse Winter. What was I doing there since I don’t make clothes? Good question, I was the moderator of the discussion, it was fun times with some of my favorite ladies in streetwear! Here’s a few snapshots of the behind the scenes, you’ll have to keep an eye out for the next issue of LTD to check out the photos and what we discussed! I’ll keep you guys posted for sure! I met Vashtie back in the days when Nike iD was at 255 Elizabeth Street, she worked the front desk so we’d chit chat everytime I went in for an appointment or an event. Then we started bumping heads everywhere on the streets and at events, it’s a small world really. After seeing each other a lot, we finally traded emails and became friends. She’s a very smart and sweet girl whom I’m really glad to have met and got to know better, definitely a person that can teach me something new and interesting. You’ve first got a sneak peek at Vashtie’s latest venture, Violette when I rocked out her promo tee back in April. She’s been telling me about her clothing line forever and now it finally took off and it’s looking very…Vashtie- a mix of a tomboy flair and high fashion sensibility. Also, check out her new blog!

I was introduced to Elska Sandor, the women’s designer of In4mation at the G-Shock 25th Anniversary Party which took place back in May. We didn’t get to chat much but it was really great putting a face to a name. Before I met her I’ve been taking notice of her designs already and also heard many great things about her too. I have really grown to like In4mation’s women line, its very detailed and the clothes are very well designed. There’s also an exclusive sneak peek of the women’s holiday ‘08 collection, looking pretty good- can’t wait to see the full look!

Nine West 30th Anniversary Spring 2009 Collection – Part 1

A couple of weeks ago I went to check out Nine West’s 30th Anniversary Spring 2009 Collection Preview which included footwear, handbags and jewelry. The collection is very extensive ranging from sandals, wedges, pumps, flats, handbags, clutches, sunglasses, hats and jewelry. I was amazed at how many products were offered for Spring 2009, I normally don’t realize there’s such a broad range since only a select number of products get released in stores and online at a time. Seeing the whole collection at once in person was a bit overwhelming but it was definitely eye candy- there are so many products that I like!

There’s a bunch of candy colored footwear with matching handbags, hats and sunglasses that will be released, I felt like a kid walking into a candy store- so much to choose from! Gladiator sandals are still strong for Nine West and lots of straw fedoras are being offered in a variety of colorways. There’s also a line of shoes with a retro vibe- big polka dots and swirly prints on shoes and bags, pretty cute. I never used to pay attention to their handbags and accessories but after seeing them in person I got a better feel for them. Their handbags are actually pretty cute and definitely on the affordable side, I have my eyes on a few of them as well. Lots of metallics, patent leather, big rhinestones and also stripes throughout the whole collection. This year mark’s the 30th Anniversary of Nine West, after 30 years and still standing strong- that means there’s still many more years to come!

The Spring 2009 collection starts to release in January 2009, keep an eye out for them! ~~Stay tuned for part 2 of the preview- there are many more photos to be released!~~

I first met Dee and Ricky when I went on the Camp Beverly Hills “Class Trip” in Vegas for Magic back in February. They are an eclectically colorful and high-energy set of twins and two-thirds of the rap and dance group Jackson Swinton. The Twins, as they are known throughout the downtown scene, have garnered the attention and affection of the fashion and music communities with their unparalleled style and energy. They have appeared in fashion spreads and advertisements in the world’s most influential style magazines. They have had their portrait painted by renowned fine artist Kehinde Wiley and have popped up in advertising campaigns for Puma, Nike, Supreme, and A New York Thing, as well as in editorials for Teen Vogue, The New York Post and Paper Magazine. Recently, the Twins’ accessories – belts and brooches by Dee and Ricky- were commissioned by renowned fashion designer Marc Jacobs for his New York Fashion WeekSpring 2008 rtwrunway show.

It’s been a good few months working on this interview with The Twins and they’re the first males to be featured on nitro:licious, that makes them extra special- I just love their accessories so much I had to! They’ve talked with me about their rising cult fame and the release of their first EP on Business Class Records. Here’s your chance to get a better understanding of them.
