Nike Sportswear - 21 Mercer Street - Grand Opening

Clark Kent, Me and Just Blaze inside the NSW Store - it was mad hot!

Not many can compare to how grand Nike does their parties, August 21, 2008 marked the celebration of the opening of Nike Sportswear at 21 Mercer Street in none other than my hometown, NYC! To commence the big day, Nike closed down an entire block to host their Block Party by transforming Mercer Street into a stadium with the ground covered in astroturf complete with bleachers, concession stands throughout the space offering popcorn, cotton candy, lemonade, beer, corn dogs, hot dogs, chicken fingers & fries, ice cream filled in miniature baseball hats and two large LED displays with countdowns to the store opening. Not to mention huge screens across the arena projecting short films by a collection of artists.

When the clock ticked zero, Brooklyn-based Soul Tigers’ marching band performed their signature drumline routine to usher the entrance of Spike Lee, along with the world’s #1 tennis player, Roger Federer, to officially open the doors to 21 Mercer Street. I got a tour of the new store, it’s dope. I will definitely need to swing by again to do some shopping and looking when it quiets down a bit.

The event was nuts, I heart block parties. I had a great time, big thanks to Demetria (Nike) for everything! And also a special thanks to Jon (Strategic Group).

Lacoste “PF170″ Dinner

On Tuesday night (August 12th), Lacoste invited their favorite NYC girls along with some of their favorite boys to dinner to commemorate the launching of their newly redesigned women’s polo, the PF170 for fall. We had dinner at Rice (review to come) and got a taste of the new Lacoste PF170 which is more tailored for the women’s body. To make them exclusively ours they got our initials embroidered on the collar, how cute- I heart personalization. Big thanks to Lacoste and Matt and Pam from The Class Trip.

Tropic Thunder - Alpa Chino’s Booty Sweat!

p1060161.jpg

Ever since I’ve watched Tropic Thunder about a month ago, July 16th to be exact- I’ve been itching to watch it AGAIN! I never watched a movie twice in such a short period of time, let alone at the theater twice!! The movie was so good I had to watch it AGAIN and it was just as funny as the first time, I can seriously watch it again haha! Earlier this week I brought my gurl Minya to watch the screening with me, courtesy of Mark Kwan and DreamWorks, as we walked in to the screening he handed us a bottle of Booty Sweat! We were both dying in the movie, Minya loved it too! You can actually cop Alpa Chino’s Booty Sweat at Amazon.com, I think I need a case just because…

Definitely one of my favorite movies of all time and the best comedy movie so far- mad surprises, so don’t miss out on this one! The movie opened today, go watch it!!! If you guys watch it, let me know what you think of the movie!!

Beautiful Losers Workshops: Character Design with Kaws

p1060134.jpg

Instead of sleeping in last Sunday, August 10th I attended the Beautiful Losers Workshops: Character Design with Kaws. Nike Sportswear presents the Beautiful Losers’ MAKE SOMETHING!!, a series of community and youth-oriented creative workshops in New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco. MAKE SOMETHING!! invites local children to participate in creative workshops such as sign painting, photography, skateboard graphic design, toy design, filmmaking, tattoo art, footwear design and zine making. Workshops are hosted by renowned artists from the Beautiful Losers “do-it-yourself” art subculture, which include Ed Templeton, Tobin Yelland, Geoff McFetridge, Shepard Fairey, Mike Mills, Todd James, Cheryl Dunn, Kaws, Mr. Cartoon and Aaron Rose.

The space was pretty amazing, I kinda wanted to decorate my room like that- love the big zipper haha! A big fan of Kaws so I had to attend that workshop, he was great- learned some new things about him and had a great time! I’ll definitely be attending another one of these this month, thanks DW!
