Anna Sui Spring 2009 Runway Video

Last night I hit the Bryant Park Tents to check out Anna Sui’s Spring 2009 RTW Collection, the first thing I noticed when I got near the tents is that a lot of people were wearing the Save The Garment Center T-Shirt. According to Style.com, Anna Sui’s Spring 2009 collection was inspired “from the way that textile designer, shopkeeper, and New York Mexican restaurant pioneer Alexander Girard and his doll-maker friend Marilyn Neuhart made the folkloric modern”. I saw Sofia Coppola sitting front row and it was super packed, I don’t think one seat was empty- along with all the standing people it was a full house. The lights dimmed and everyone seated, I was happy to see Agyness Deyn open and close the show- she’s so cute. The collection lineup is full of playful bohemian shift dresses, rompers, matador-inspired pieces, prints and bright colors along with super fab studded gladiator sandals (Ballin for Anna Sui) and the costume jewelry were made by Erickson Beamon. It was a fun show to watch! Check out my video and you can peep the runway pics at Style.com. The gift bag from the show was super sweet, check it out below. Thanks to Jenny (Anna Sui) and Eva!

Vivienne Tam After Show Party

Vivienne Tam & Me

After seeing the Vivienne Tam Spring 2009 RTW Runway Show at the Tents yesterday, headed down to Vivienne Tam’s Soho store for the after show party. The party was a full house, attracted lots of fashionistas, friends, family and Serena Williams came through to support as well (she was sitting front row at the show). Veuve Clicquot Champagne was flowing and cute boys were walking around with yummy hors d’oeuvres sponsored by Wakiya, at the end of the night guests were gifted with a Vivienne Tam peony print envelope and inside is a cute peony print t-shirt. Big thanks to Susan and Steven!

The party was also a celebration of the launch of her partnership with HP, the first ever HP digital clutch (shown) to debut in Fashion Week runway. The special edition notebook is “gleaming red and bursting with peony flowers- inside the notebook, under the keypad the notebook features an embroidered storage sleeve that helps keep the exterior protected while carried as a clutch.” The peony design was inspired by her “China Chic” style and the peony is the national flower of China. Look out for the HP x Vivienne Tam Special Edition notebook next year!

Chanel Iman & Me ~ she’s super cute!

Last Saturday, September 6th, marked my first experience at Fashion Week- the Lacoste Spring 2009 RTW runway was definitely a good one to start. You’ve seen the runway show via my video and read my thoughts on the collection, now let’s take a look at the show in my eyes and backstage- Chanel Iman! It was extremely hard to take good shots since the models are walking fast, but I’ve included a few shots that weren’t too bad- I’ll leave the professional pics to the photographers. Enjoy!

New York Fashion Week - Day #1: Steinunn, [ édité ] & Aveda

p1070542.jpg

Today is the official kick-off of New York Fashion Week, super exciting even though I didn’t go to any shows at the Tents today. Went to the Katie Murphy Theater @ FIT to check out the Steinunn Spring 2009 Collection with Lesley (Fashion Tribes), Nichelle and Charrell (55 Secret), then off to the [ édité ] Spring 2009 Collections Showcase featuring emerging talent including Vierrieres et Sako, Bradley Scott, Ishii, Ixchel, Bionda Castana, Pring and more. We were all super tired after that so we headed over to the Aveda Beauty Suite @ Bryant Park Hotel to chill and freshen up a bit. Met a lot of beauty bloggers there, yeah! After I left, I passed by the Tents to snap a photo- super excited because I’ll be back there tomorrow. Which show? You’ll just have to wait and see haha! Stay tuned for the collections preview here!

Fashion Indie Brooklyn Bridge Fashion Show

p1070229.jpg

Yesterday I went to the Fashion Indie Brooklyn Fashion Week Show at the Brooklyn Bridge to support a fellow blogger Daniel from Fashion Indie whom I met at the Louis Vuitton breakfast back in May. As a New Yorker, I’ve never walked the Brooklyn Bridge so this was also an excuse to go! The show was a bit chaotic with heavy traffic on the bicycle and pedestrian path which was used as its runway but it was quite an experience and pretty interesting. I was walking with caution as the bridge had lots of cracks in between the wooden planks, luckily I had my flip flops with me too- I changed quickly after I was done with what I needed to do, so did the models.

The runway featured eight designers: New York Couture, Sheila Frank, Zulema Griffin, San & Soni, Mandate of Heaven, Love Brigade, Alisha Trimble, and Brooklyn Royalty.
