Maison Martin Margiela Exhibition in Beijing

mmm-exhibition.jpg
Photography: Lou Lin Wei / WWD

Beijing is getting all the luv lately! In addition to everything else cool that is happening over there, Maison Martin Margiela “unveiled its first retrospective exhibition in Mainland China last week, featuring a gallery of cotton-covered dummies, a car draped in a sheet, the contents of an anonymous woman’s handbag on a podium and, of course, some clothes”. If you’re in the country you should definitely swing by Beijing’s 798 Art District to check it out, the exhibition runs through July 1st. I wish I can check out this exhibition, I heart MMM!

Eight rooms displayed archive documents, videos and samples of Margiela’s designs, allowing visitors to interact with notable pieces from past collections and the designer’s quirky side projects. via WWD

Personalized Laser Etched Moleskine Notebooks

p1010632.jpg

Even though I have my handy dandy BlackBerry where I schedule all my appointments, I always like to keep a planner aside too. I like to write in what I did everyday and other plans for the future, it’s sort of like a mini diary without getting too deep - its a must b/c I like jotting down ideas and thoughts.

My choice of planner is definitely the Moleskine, my first one is the Pocket Diary which I am still using. The new one that I just got is a laser etched Moleskine notebook that I’ve personalized with my nitro:licious logo (disregard the box around it, it’s a mistake). You can upload your own art, logo or photo to get etched, it’s laser engraving so the graphic comes out very clean and detailed. There’s also an option of adding custom text on the front, which I added my full name and also a custom spine which I skipped. If you don’t want to personalize your own, you can also choose from the designs that are pre-made - click here for all the designs.

The one I have is the custom Large Lined Moleskine Notebook (5 x 8 1/4), I’ll be using this as my diary! If you’re interested you can customize your own here. Great gift idea too!

MoMA Design Store - Destination: Japan

Kidrobot x Devilrobots - Mochi

If you’re a fan of Japanese design and products like me, MoMA Design Stores has just launched their newest Destination: Japan, a MoMA-exclusive product collection highlighting lifestyle products usually found only in Japan. Products include home accessories, jewelry and personal accessories, and children’s products. A lot of quite fun and interesting things, I’ve always been intrigued by how creative the Japanese are. There are also Takashi Murakami products exclusively to Destination: Japan - Eye Love I Pins and Mr. DOB Plush.

Also a birth of a new character, “Mochi”, developed in collaboration with Devilrobots and Kidrobot which serves as a mascot for Destination: Japan. Mochi is a nod to the diverse menagerie of kawaii (cute) characters that represent brands in Japan and serve as guides to everyday activities. The limited edition collectible toy is available in four colors and available online now. Fun, take a peek! via Freshness
