PUMA Mongolian Shoe BBQ First Round

puma-mbbq.jpg

When PUMA Mongolian Shoe BBQ first launched on-line in 2006, I had the opportunity to “cook” up a pair of RS100 to review on my blog and the final product of the shoe came out pretty good. PUMA has recently added the First Round silhouette to the program, the First Round is a hi-top version of the Basket which is also available to customize. The iconic style has now joined the Basket and RS100 in the Mongolian Shoe BBQ to give consumers a chance to fully customize a pair of shoes in a hands-on, tactile and interactive shoe making experience. They have also added a range of new materials to choose from, including nylon in navy and canvas in black, white and burnt olive. Every aspect of the shoe is independently customizable, from the choice of both fat and skinny laces, to the choice of outsole and the color of the tongue tag. You can either start with a blank canvas or customize a pre-designed one. The First Round is available in women’s and men’s sizing and retail at $110 and takes about 5-7 weeks for delivery.

Kid Sister and Me

Last night the Downshift Session 2008 Event took place at the Classic Car Club in New York to celebrate Gran Turismo’s 10th anniversary. The evening was a celebration of automotive design, music, art and of course gaming. The highlights of the event included Eric Haze unveiling the Lotus Exige which he hand painted and will be auctioned to benefit Studio in a School. DJ Soul (bigups for the shoutout!) and DJ Neil Armstrong were on the 1s and 2s and Kid Sister gave a great performance, plus gamers had the opportunity to race in live time trials to win amazing prizes. Shoutouts to Jan (LTD), Hawaii Mike (LTD), Jeff Staple and everyone involved, it was a dope event!

There’s four pages of pics so don’t forget to check out all of it (click on the page numbers at the end of each page), enjoy!

Chanel Mobile Art Landed in New York!

When I was in Hong Kong I missed out on the Chanel Mobile Art Exhibition that Zaha Hadid designed and was pretty sad about it but the New York exhibition will make up for it! The Chanel Mobile Art pavilion has landed in Central Park’s Rumsey Playfield, “which houses 18 modern artists’ odes to the iconic Chanel 2.55 handbag, will open to the public on Monday.” As you can see the crew is still assembling the 700 part for Monday’s opening, the exhibition will depart on November 9th and online tickets are already booked up. For a chance to see the exhibition visit the on-site ticketing box office for limited same day ticketing (subject to availability). “The entire project was conceived as a celebratory event for the 50th anniversary of Coco Chanel’s quilted 2.55 handbag, launched in February 1955. Once inside the space, visitors meander through specially commissioned installations loosely inspired by the 2.55. Yoko Ono, Blue Noses, Sylvie Fleury and Lee Bul are among the 18 artists whose works are on display.”

“A torus is basically like a spiral,” she said of the exhibition’s home, which looks not unlike a grounded UFO. “You start where you begin, you begin where you end and move from one space to another. It sounds light, like you’re just going to float it around and land it somewhere, but it’s very complicated.”

Aside from the exhibition, there will be “four limited edition 2.55s — red patent, ivory and navy alligator, and a jumbo-size navy patent style, all signed by Lagerfeld — will be available at the firm’s 57th Street and SoHo stores. The bags are priced up to $31,500, while the exhibition is free, although apparently no less a limited edition.” via WWD

I can’t wait, did you guys book your tickets yet? I did!
