Hey.  I found this store on my lunch break while I was walking around Soho.  CHELSEA GIRL is owned by the same woman as CHELSEA GIRL COUTURE and CLUTCH.  CHELSEA GIRL’s price points are slightly lower than that of CHELSEA GIRL COUTURE but the product is just as great.  They have a pretty wide selection of winter coats all of which I wanted to take home sooo badly but I couldn’t do it.  Maybe you guys will have better luck than I had.

Vintage Spots #8 - City Opera Thrift Shop

City Opera Thrift Shop

New York, NY

I passed by a few Vintage shops a couple of weeks ago but never had a chance to post these. I was in the neighborhood that day running some errands so I stopped on by a few on the same block. When you shop at City Opera, all proceeds go directly to support the design and creation of new costumes at New York City Opera. There’s all sorts of stuff there, from clothes, shoes, accessories to furniture. I saw a few designer pieces but they were pretty big sizes. Check it out if you’re around there, more pics after the jump…

If your looking for great designer pieces in almost PERFECT condition, check out FROCK.  I’ve been going to this store since late 2005. Their service is the best I’ve seen and they have more designer pieces than any other store I’ve been to. They have everything from YSL Rive Gauche to Vivienne Westwood. Check it out.

Everything I found here looked like it had NEVER been worn. That should explain the price but then again, you get what you pay for. I loved everything about CHELSEA GIRL but I couldn’t take a picture of every piece so I picked out my favorites. And make sure you check out those GUCCI bags.

This Housing Works locations, like other thrift shops, sell furniture as well as clothing.  There are also ways for you to donate to Housing Works.  Here’s an excerpt from their site.  When you buy from HOUSING WORKS, you help contribute to a greater cause.

Housing Works is the nation’s largest non-profit minority-controlled AIDS service organization. Our mission is to reach the most vulnerable and under served among those affected by the AIDS epidemic in New York City, primarily homeless persons of color whose positive HIV diagnoses are complicated by a history of chronic mental illness and/or chemical dependence, and provide them with a comprehensive range of services designed to help them gain stability, independence, and dignity, and improve their overall health.

Take a look at what I found…

Hey everyone. Yea I know it’s been a while but I’ve been searching for a really good thrift shop and I came across a great one a block away from my school. I also figured out that if you want to find some great, lightly used designer items, stay on the EAST SIDE of Manhattan. I found a Christian Dior suit, a GIANNI VERSACE jacket, and a beautiful LONDON FOG trench…all of which were very reasonably priced. They also have a rather large selection of furniture at THE VINTAGE THRIFT STORE if you’re looking to furnish your apartment as well as your closet. Take a look.
