Shopping for the perfect mattress

For the past month or so my weekends have been mostly dedicated to fixing up my apartment (still am), it has been long due. Purging all the clothes and accessories that I no longer wear and also creating more closet space. Now that things are almost done, I need a new mattress and I’m willing to spend on that. I think the bed is the most important in the house, if you can’t get a good night sleep your entire day is messed up. So I’ve been looking into getting either a Stearns & Foster, Tempur-Pedic or Beautyrest mattress.

I’ve went to a furniture store to try all 3 brands and boy there are so many different kinds, they all felt pretty comfy and it’s really hard to choose one! All great brands and pricing all start at about $1000 which is doable. While doing research my friend Jenn recommended The W Hotels Mattress by Simmons which is currently on sale at Gilt.com. I’ve stayed at W Hotels several times and their beds are really comfy so I’m considering getting it. What brand of mattress are you sleeping on?

Miu Miu Spring/Summer 2012 Plongé Bags

Last week when I stopped by Miu Miu’s press preview I spotted these cute Plongé Bags from the Spring/Summer 2012 collection. The structured bag is made in soft nappa plongé, and also available in the vitello shine version, with a “ruched thread” finish (a special hand-made stitching technique, obtained by means of threading in 5 thin cotton threads gathered to create distinctive draping). The Miu Miu Plongé comes in ten different colorways, from soft hues such as mughetto, opale and pervinca, to brighter colors such as peonia, ananas and fuxia. The bag includes a removable strap and cotton satin lining. Available in all Miu Miu stores and online at miumiu.com. The bags are so cute for Spring/Summer! And I love the ad campaign for it!

Anna Dello Russo at H&M Accessories Collection

Just when the collab world is lacking some news, H&M announces a special accessories collaboration with Fashion Director of Vogue Japan Anna Dello Russo. We all know how AdR is obsessed with fashion and H&M always puts out good stuff, so I’m sure this collab will be pretty amazing. From the preview it’s looking pretty exciting already! The collection features jewelry, sunglasses, shoes, bags and a trolley at H&M’s affordable price. Available from October 4, 2012 in around 140 H&M stores worldwide and online.

“I am excited by this collaboration: this is the first time H&M involves a Fashion Director in a special project. This is the sign of an important evolution in fashion, and I am both thrilled and humbled to be the one chosen to lead it. I wanted to create precious accessories that are impossible to find. As a stylist I know accessorization is essential: it is the personal touch to any outfit. With these pieces everybody can have fun, turning an ordinary day into a fantastic fashion day”, says Anna Dello Russo.

“It’s been extremely exciting to involve Anna Dello Russo in this project, something completely different from what we have done before. Anna has a fantastic eye and a strong taste, apart from being a veritable fashion icon. She has produced an extravagant range of accessories that will get H&M customers, and everyone in love with fashion, excited. The collection is a celebration of excess, fantasy and decoration” says Margareta van den Bosch, Creative Advisor at H&M.

Are you excited about the collaboration? Can’t wait to see the full collection! More sneak peeks and a video after the jump…

Pamela Love Autumn/Winter 2012 Lookbook
Photography: Skye Parrott

I seriously need to invest in getting myself some Pamela Love jewelry, I love her stuff! For Autumn/Winter 2012, Pamela Love was inspired by art deco and industrial elements of both the 1920s jazz age and modern graphic design. Love’s new collection has a more geometric focus featuring classic shapes like chevrons, sunbursts, and geometric curves. I like!

“I like to mix polar aesthetics to create balance, and using elements of the Art Deco period felt like a perfect fit. No other artistic movement seems so flawlessly vintage and peculiarly modern at the same time. After exploding in the 1920s & 1930s and then finding a place again in graphic design in the 1980s, the shapes and patterns seem both retro chic and futuristic to me. I wanted to mix elements inspired by modern architectural landmarks like the Chrysler Building and the Paramount Theatre with similarly geometric silhouettes found in ancient religious landmarks like Ziggurats and Mesopotamian terraces.”

You can shop Pamela Love at shopbop.com and net-a-porter.com.

Bobbi Brown Miami Collection

Bobbi Brown launches a new collection inspired by Miami just in time for summer. I love the look of sun-kissed skin, just like after a day at the beach. Skin is kissed with beautiful coral and nectar colors infused with gold. And there’s also a Beach Fragrance and Shimmering Fragrance Oil for that added touch. The collection is available at bobbibrown.com.

Coty DKMS 6th Annual Linked Against Leukemia Gala

For the fourth year, I was honored to be invited by Coty to be their guest at the Coty-DKMS 6th Annual Linked Against Leukemia Gala. The gala was held at Cipriani Wall Street, it was hosted by Nate Berkus and COO of DKMS Americas, Katharina Harf, it was once again a very emotional night. Heidi Klum, Vera Wang, Dakota Fanning, Nelly, Ashanti, Solange Knowles and many more were in attendance too. The special performance of the night was by Skylar Grey and L.P.!

Since I am still in the midst of renovating my apartment and redoing my closet, I decided to go minimalist. Did some pulls but didn’t like the looks on, so went with an oldie. Unfortunately I was a bit under the weather and didn’t feel my best so didn’t take a lot of photos but it was a lovely evening with a group of fantastic people! Special thanks to Coty and DKMS for helping to save people with leukemia, to learn more visit www.dkmsamericas.org.
