Last week was a different week from the norm of traveling to metropolitan cities or putting in work at the office. The MT crew and our friends at The Social Trust packed up and headed for the island of Kauai for the 2011 campaign shoot for Mosley Tribes. Kauai is a small Hawaii island farthest west of all the other main islands. The remote island with minimal tourism was truly a visually mind blowing experience not crowded by big money franchise resorts and shopping. Instead the crew shacked up like family in a plantation house off the water and explored the sites less captured by your average vacationers. It’s not everyday you get to embrace nature like that living in LA so I took every moment in.

Black tank: Cheap Monday / Red Bandeau Bikini: Brette Sandler Bikini from Shopbop.com / Denim cuffed shorts : Textile by Elizabeth and James / Sandals: H&M “Fashion Against Aids” / Leather Fanny Pack w/ Leg Strap: Bottega Veneta / Gold Aviator Shades: Mosley Tribes “Raynes” / Watch: Bell and Ross

One of the island facts that I found to be the funniest is that there’s an abundance of roosters and flying chickens ALL over the island! Roaming free and in the most random spots (beach!) scavenging for food. Why you wonder? I learned that after Hurricane Iniki that took place in 1992, all the chicken farms got destroyed so all the birds got loose and the residents have let them roam free ever since. The best was when I saw a local dude catch “dinner” with string and corn in a parking lot. True story.

The new campaign we shot is SO ill – you just wait and see. But for now, enjoy the selfish photos of the land through my eyes.
