The Old Navy Babydoll Fleece Coats is definitely a great choice for satisfying my need for the Mike & Chris Bailey, besides the Old Navy version, several readers have put me on to this Free People Twilight Empire Jacket looking almost exact to the original. Now due back by popular demand, the Mike & Chris Bailey is back! i just checked the old navy website and the coat is now on ale for $30!! no olive though.
i’d go with the forever 21 — looks almost just like the mike & chris and is cheaper than the free people replica which i would pick second!
I purchase the Free People (in black) a few weeks ago at Bloomies… Its too cute to pass. Very comfy too.
I’m thinking of getting the old navy one for the price…but it doesn’t have that bubble effect on the bottom like the original or the free people one
I bought the Free People one in olive/green and the oldnavy in grey.
But I think the oldnavy has thicker fleece than the free people one.
I ordered the Free People version a while back, and it is almost an exact replica of the Mike and Chris, right down to the vintage pinstripe lining and removable hood, so IMO there is no reason to buy the original unless you are a label whore. However, I ended up returning it because the empire waist hit much too high on me (I am 5′9″, though). I was really surprised that I ended up liking the Old Navy version better in person. The fit was simply more flattering on me, but I would deifintely have preferred the Free People version if I was shorter. I only like the Old Navy version in black and green, though–I thought the lighter colors looked cheap.
there’s actually a juicy couture one too! i saw a grey one that looks exactly like the grey old navy one. i’m not sure if there’s other colors but yahh you can add juicy to that list! haha
ok, i just double checked cuz it’s been 2 weeks since i saw the juicy one and it looks a lil different. it has 4 buttons instead of 2, but it’s called the Juicy Couture Pleated Empire Hooded Coat! you can find it at shopbop
i got the old navy one, but i sorta wish i had gotten the free people cuz i love the bubble effect
scriptkitten, i got the free people version. it does not have any bubble effect. i don’t know why the pictures above have them. maybe they were styled that way.
I like the Free People one, it looks to be better quality. You get what you pay for. I usually can’t afford Free People even though I absolutely love so much of what they have. But I just saw that hautelook.com is doing a sample sale for this line! I can’t wait. They have sales up to 70% off.
