Karol over at Black Mamba just sent over a preview of her upcoming holiday ‘07 collection. Black Mamba is a new addition to the growing female streetwear brand, I’m really glad to see more and more ladies trying to make a difference in the streetwear game. This stuff looks EXACTLY like all the other female streetwear lines out there! (save MTTM)
It’s really unfortunate. Find other sources of inspiration other than makeup and “ghetto gold” jewelry, ladies!
The styling looks like Dimepiece Summer 07′. Wierd. Props to ladies doing their thang!

I like the designs, but it would be even cooler to have shirts that were more flattering to women- scoop necks or v-necks, 3/4 sleeves, flutter or kimono sleeves, slit sides or side ties. Fishtail or asymmetrical hems. And really thin soft cotton that drapes well. I would buy any shirt like that with decent graphics.
MMTM? Please, that shit’s over at karmaloop I heard. Mamba, do your thing.

YAWN! I can see this selling very well next to packages of beef jerkey and 8.99 a case Budweiser at the local liquor store. Seen Kill Bill afew too many times?
All jokes aside this is really boring, I work in the fashion industry and am subjected to “bro-shows” like Magic, ASR, and Pool to the point of nausea. I see this stuff everyday, and in this oversaturated “streetwear” industry it is sad to see how many brands don’t reach far above logotypes and name branding, what are we billboards?
More style, more substance, less “I want your money” for my uninventive clothing line that I started three days ago. Then again I bet some of the buyers for all the bodegas in the country will go crazy over this stuff and mix it in with their airbrushed Biggie and Tupac shirts.

stick to punching donkeys there donkeylover… not everyone is as cool as u think u are. nothing is hotter than females that kick ass… except if there butch. i think these designs do more with less because too much crap is…. too much crap! what are we sketchpads? i also like how the designs pay attention to detail like the snake print, so coming from somebody who pays money for clothes… black mamba is hot!

Yes the general public is the general public and they only know what they like based on what is dictated to them.
However, I am pointing out my opinion as a consumer and as an educated participant in the industry. Sarcastic and rude as I may be flaming me for it will not change either the way I present myself or the fact that Black Mamba is tired, seen it, done it, rinse and repeat. Im sure the designers for Black Mamba live in Papa New Guinea and still listen to Will Smith because they think thats whats hot in America right now.
Bottom line is, you can aspire to be creative and make money or recycle snakeprints and Disney-esque urban cartoons like so many “blinged” out Popeye shirts before you have fun, stay safe, dont do anything new because you might have to try to conceptualize and that just doesnt turn a profit, and it can make your wittle head hurt to
Looks good to me, I don’t know why a person with a tag name “donkey puncher”( shows how professional you are) whose supposedly an “educated participant in the industry”, would be hating. Black Mamba is an alternative clothing brand that gives females a choice, isnt that what makes this country great?, having different choices so females do not get stuck with the usual “go to” brands when they hit the shops?, Running your mouth on here with all this trash talk doesn’t do anyone any good.

wow, some varied opinions here…. hmmm Im scared to leave any negative comments lol. Donkey Puncher seems like a total @$$hole but I kinda feel his/her point. As a girl who digs on streetwear I have to say I dont like when designers try to make clothes for girls that look like they should be on pre-pubescent boys. Sorry, I like to see girls doin their thing but Im just not feeling this stuff….
maybe something a little more subtle, cute cuts and maybe some accesory type stuff I dunno..

hello! the name “Black Mamba” did not derive from the kill bill movie..i have seen that movie once and yes, the movie is great. The name was actually inspired by the marvel character “black mamba”. If anyone has ever read those comics then they would feel me on this. But not only was it an inspiration, the name itself is strong and different.
