PUMA x Lydia Hearst Bags

With the limited run of the Puma Lydia Bag by Heatherette produced for February’s New York Fashion Week only 100 bags were available and most were given to Hearst’s friends. PUMA and Lydia Hearst has teamed up once again to make the bags mainstream, this time for a more accessibly priced bag and a fitness line. The tennis racket-inspired bag will hit stores this Friday, November 30th and retails for $125 available in all of Puma’s concept stores.

Like the original Lydia bag, this version is based on Puma’s terry cloth racquet grip bag from its French 77 collection. But unlike the previous custom-leather version, the new incarnation is green-friendly and does not use leather. For holiday, it comes in two colorways, black patent with bright blue accents and silver.

For fall, Hearst and Puma will launch an activewear line. Pricing and designs for the collection are still in the works. Hearst again plans to use eco-friendly fabrics for the line, which is inspired by her daily workouts. via WWD

Topshops First Manhattan Flagship Takes Over YRB
A rendering of Topshop’s first U.S. store, to open in Manhattan in September.

Topshop has announced its first news to step foot into the US back in 2006 and there has been continuous rumors on where the first location will land. According to WWD, Topshop’s first Manhattan store will be at 478 Broadway in SoHo, which is currently Yellow Rat Bastard. Topshop’s owner, Sir Philip Green has an option to take a 9,500-square-foot space on the building’s top floor to use as his U.S. office and said further store openings in America are likely to come sooner rather than later. Expect the first Topshop/Topman unit in September, he is planning two more Manhattan stores, as well as flagships on the West Coast, and other units in cities including Las Vegas, Miami and Boston.

The new Topshop stores in the U.S. will be a minimum of 20,000 square feet and they all will be flagships. “I don’t want hundreds of little stores in the U.S. They all have to make economic sense,” he said.

The Broadway flagship will cover 40,000 square feet over three floors — basement, ground floor and first floor — and Green said he’s hoping to preserve the “spirit” of the brand’s iconic Oxford Circus flagship. Green said he and his team are mulling the design for the Broadway store, but there likely will be a spiral staircase in addition to escalators, and customers in the basement will be able to view the two upper floors.

He also has no plans to advertise in the U.S. as of yet, although there likely will be two or three events next year to mark the flagship’s opening.

This is great news, though September seems a long time from now but good things are worth the wait!

House of Hoops by Footlocker
House of Hoops by Foot Locker
268 West 125th Street
(btwn Adam Clyton Powell and Frederick Douglas Blvd.)
New York, NY 10027

Nike and Foot Locker has joined forces and opened the doors to House of Hoops by Foot Locker on Harlem’s 125th Street, a first-of-its-kind basketball retail experience with Nike, Jordan Brand and Converse exclusively under one roof. Last week, I went along with Freshness to check out the House of Hoops by Foot Locker press preview, the spot is dope – a one stop shop for the family (men’s, women’s and kid’s kicks available) and even if you don’t want to shop you can go chill there.

“House of Hoops is a hub for all things basketball and a new home for consumers who live and breathe the game,” said Charlie Denson, President of the Nike Brand. “It’s the ultimate basketball store. House of Hoops offers a stellar line-up of performance and basketball inspired footwear, apparel and equipment from the game’s biggest names, meeting the needs of the every day player.”

Nobu 11.04.2007 *Dinner*
Nobu
105 Hudson Street
At Franklin Street
New York, NY 10013
212.219.0500

The Scene
Nobu New York, the flagship restaurant of Chef Nobu Matsuhisa, has been a pioneer for Japanese cuisine since its opening in 1994. Nobu partnered with restaurateur Drew Nieporent and Oscar-winning actor Robert De Niro to bring his modern Japanese to Tribeca. Nobu draws upon his classical training at sushi bars in Tokyo and his life abroad in Peru, Argentina, and around the world to create a whole new trend in Japanese cuisine. The resulting dishes, including Yellowtail with Jalapeno, Tiradito Nobu Style, Lobster with Wasabi Pepper Sauce, and Black Cod with Miso, make Nobu the innovator of new style Japanese food.

Nobu New York’s design by architect David Rockwell evokes the beauty of the Japanese countryside with its natural textures, birch trees, wood floors and a wall made of river stones. Energy and excitement pulse through the room, creating a surreal effect. The restaurant received three stars from the New York Times and a Michelin star. The restaurant’s perennial popularity and devoted following are a tribute to Nobu putting his own spin on traditional Japanese cooking. – Nobu

Need I say more? I’m sure a lot of people has heard of Nobu before, this spot is also one of the restaurants I wanted to try for a long time. My bro suggested to take B there for his b’day, we went to the original Nobu down at Hudson Street. The ambiance is comfortable and the food was amazing, love it there. Will def go back there again, its pricey but you pay for the quality and taste of the food…it makes up for the price. Everything was REALLY good, I’m sure B had a very Happy Birthday haha!
