The much anticipated Louis Vuitton at COMME des GARCONS Pop-Up Shop in Tokyo has opened its door on Wednesday night welcoming Japanese fashion editors and local celebrities to get first dibs on the collection. Guests that attended included Junya Watanabe, Kazuyo Sejima (architect), Tao Kurihara (Comme des Garçons designer), Ai Tominaga (a host of LVMH brass) and Kris Van Assche (Dior Homme designer). The store opens to public today, 4th September through mid-December,. “The interiors are true to COMME des GARCONS’ spare aesthetic, with gray concrete walls and an exposed metal staircase. Steel boxes coated in LV-logo gold flock are mounted on the walls of the lower level. Each box features a slit or compartment designed to hold a specific model of the six-piece handbag collection.” The exclusive collection of six one-off bags (click to see full collection) prices range from 78,750 yen, or $726, for a 12-centimeter-tall rectangular bag to 194,250 yen, or $1,790, for the aforementioned duffle. The bags will only be available upon order, which is only to be placed at the “Louis Vuitton at Comme des Garçons store”. No telephone or Internet orders will be taken. “After six to nine months, the finished bags can be picked up at select Louis Vuitton stores in Japan.”
I think I may need to take a trip to Japan! More pics after the jump…
