Just a heads-up to all Chanel lovers and soon to be Chanel Classic bag owners, despite the poor economy America is facing the classic bags are scheduled for a 20% price increase on November 1, 2008! That means if you’re buying a Classic Caviar Jumbo Flap Bag for $2850 (before price increase) the price will increase to $3420- a $570 increase!! Quite insane, so cop your bag now and save yourself some loot for a pair of Christian Louboutin shoes haha, ahhh what we do for luxury bags. But of course this doesn’t stop fans from buying Chanel, I know it won’t stop me although I’d feel a bit heartbroken afterward haha. I heart Chanel!

Price increase information was provided by my sales at Chanel Soho and Chanel Bloomingdales. I wish it wasn’t true, but several of my friend’s that buy at Chanel has also heard the same thing. ;(
ok I’m new around here and while I understand the love for Chanel, et al., and covet that bag, but to pay that much for a tiny purse!? I hope those with that kind of money also donate to charitiable causes. It bugs me when early 20-somethings spend all their $ on a LV bowling bag when they could be doing so much more with it. Like paying off my student loans

Chanel used to be rather reasonable. but with all those price increses in the past few years (several price increases per year!), it’s gotten out of control.
I love Chanel, but that is truly insane. I am highly disappointed in them.
I agree completely with secondbecky, it makes me so mad to see kids walking around my campus holding Chanels or LVs when I know that as soon as I graduate this May I’m going to be buried in debt and won’t be able to even imagine owning one of those bags for at least 15 years. And who knows how expensive they will be by then. *Sigh*

About college kids with Chanel and LV-Lets be real, most people will never make enough money to justify owning these things- you have to buy it when you have disposable money and few responsibilities- that time is in your college years!
Lets think about it this way: buy cheap fashion pieces from H&M and the like, and only invest in the pieces you keep for years… if not decades. Of those pieces i invest in, its purses and shoes. And while I’m up to my neck in college loan debt– I’d rather save up and buy a nice purse than bitch and moan when my cheap $100 purse chokes after 2 weeks.
While i can’t afford a Chanel handbag, and probably wont for a number of years– i do believe investing in items that outlive a dress is a good idea… even if its just a $200 bag from a reputable brand or local designer.
And most importantly, i have the means to buy nice things, but i don’t dare save up for only my own material wants– but i also save for charitable causes. If you are at a point in your life where you can afford high end bags, you also know the value of investing in others, and giving back. :]

I just bought my 2.55 exactly 1 week ago. A medium caviar for $2,450. The saleslady at Nordstrom told me the price was going to go up Monday–October 20.
