Karl Lagerfeld (for Chanel)
Every designer is aiming to dress Michelle Obama for the upcoming Inaugural Ball on January 20, 2009. Big guns like Karl Lagerfeld (Chanel), Badgley Mischka, Betsey Johnson, Carolina Herrera, Chado Ralph Rucci, Christian Lacroix, Diane von Furstenberg, Isaac Mizrahi, Koi Suwannagate, Marc Jacobs, Michael Kors, Monique Lhuillier, Oscar de la Renta, Peter Som, Rachel Roy, Rodarte, Tracy Reese, Tuleh, Zac Posen and Zero + Maria Cornejo submitted sketches to WWD~ check out the 34 designs! Don’t we all wish we were loved like this, which designer would you choose? Regardless of what Michelle Obama picks, she will look good as usual. I anticipate to see what she chooses for the ball!!

I have no idea who she should select. If I were her I wouldn’t select Badgley Mischka, Tuleh, or Zac Posen because their sketches of her actual face were so ugly!

it all looks definitely nice. But totally cool for the designers to include their daughters clothes, those have to be my favorite.
I vote DVF (most “her” style, IMO) and Oscar (his sketches are beautiful!).
hmmm…. i really like the white chanel suit and the dvf striped one just because they are really “smart” for michelle obama and it would suit her well because she is indeed very intelligent yet stylish… but at the same time it’s a ball! I really like that oscar de la renta drew designs for sasha and malia as well!
and i agree and say LOL at BRG’s comment because the sketches of her face were indeed not attractive! hahaha!

but chances are she’d go for an American designer. Tracy Reese is very nice, as is ODLR.
but the DVF pieces are also killer. i’d have a hard time deciding for either Lacroix or DVF.
Oh my! They are all so lovely. The Lacroix, Badgley Mischka, Zac Posen, and Koi Suwannagata dresses are absolutely gorgeous. I could definitely see her choosing DVF though.
I want to hang all these on my wall. The drawings are just so pretty.

I love the Chanel of course, very timeless. Izzac and Marc also are good picks–very colorful and fun. But the DVF ones are AMAZING–they’re not overdone, retro styled, and they just seem so Michelle. She should just have them all!

Isaac Mizrahi makes the most sense in terms of who she is as a person and what the Obama family stands for.
The Rodarte is fly. Karl Lagerfeld is great as always. And the first Christian Lacroix is amazing.

I second or third Tracy Reese. Though I would ask for a color closer to the color Kors used, loved the color, but not a big fan of the design itself.
