First Look: Matthew Williamson for H&M Mens Collection

NYLON Guys has the first look at the Matthew Williamson for H&M men’s collection which the designer will be the face of the campaign alongside Daria Werbowy and is also his first foray into menswear with the collaboration. The images they shot were a bit blurry but its better than nothing. Lots of mixing up prints, studs and color which is great for spring/summer. No sign of the women’s collection yet, hopefully we’ll get a sneak peek soon.

The women’s collection is set to hit selected H&M stores on April 23, 2009, followed by another range for women and men in mid-May. An H&M spokeswoman said the “exclusive” women’s range would be carried in about 200 stores, with the second delivery slated for all of its 1,700 stores.

“Matthew has such a good eye and a way for working with prints that he mixes up in a new way. When he combines these things, you get a very contemporary London look,” explains H&M’s creative advisor Margareta van den Bosch. “He is fantastic with piling on colour – it’s a very stylish collaboration for H&M, and very much in line with the way we’re thinking about fashion for spring/summer.”

For the men that visit my blog, do you guys like what you’re seeing so far? Would you buy any? I’m quite digging the men’s studded motorcycle leather jacket, I’m hoping there’s a similar one in the women’s line!

Update: H&M PR requested we remove the images that we got from NYLON Guys because they weren’t legit, but stay tuned for the official preview soon!

I think that his prints are the strongest feature; definitely wanna at least give the hoodies and t-shirts a try-on. Unfortunately I’m not really a fan of all the studs or the trimmed suit, but i think that the studded jacket would actually look really great on the right girl. Ha, this collab is okay, but I’m kinda wishing they’d bring back the Comme Des Garcons collection, I loved it so much. XD

I LOVE the first suit with the coloured pipings!

  4. I’m wondering the same about the women mannequins…I can’t wait for the woman collection, I have great expectations this time. Will see!!

To be honest I don’t even know who is Matthew Williamson. And sad to admit the truth but for the collaboration pple usually buy it because of the brand like everyone went crazy when Comme des garçons was sold in H&M at an affordable price. Even if it is not that GREAT (But CdG x H&M was amazing) And by the look of this Matthew Williamson collection looks like an ordinary Divided by H&M collection and the use of color, material and design is not consistent which doesn’t bring all these pieces together “as a collection.” I don’t know but I don’t think I’m buying any from this collaboration. Pple plz don’t hate me for saying this it’s just my opinion.

Matthew Williamson is amazing, i have always admired his use of exotic prints and colours. The fact that he has made a menswear collection is beyond belief. I love every single piece in the pics, it is totally up my street. I work in one of the larger h&m stores and have seen a few collections over the years and this is the most exciting one. Most of the time with the mens collections you end up with the same rubbish, a suit, some ordinary shirts and a really nice mac coat. But here they have totally mixed it up and is much more appealing.

Finally something to get excited about lol
