So my obsession with Balmain Spring 2009 doesn’t end, after a long search process I gave up on these Zara sandals that everyone seems to be lusting after. These Balmain-inspired studded rhinestone sandals were practically sold out in 2 days after it released, no luck for me in NYC. I honestly thought they weren’t going to be mine until B got them for me, had my friends help me get it (thanks Tiff and Bruce) and got them sent over this past weekend! These sandals are part of the Special Edition collection featured in their Spring/Summer ‘09 ads with Lara Stone rockin’ them! I heard that these shoes were “too similar to another brand” so they had a legal issue and had to pull them off the shelves. I could of told them that haha. Super hot sandals indeed, but a bit pricey for Zara shoes. They cost $169 but I think they’re well worth it, the quality is pretty good- the stones and studs are not flimsy, plus just look at them! I am longing for the warm weather so I can rock them out! If any of you guys go these babies, let me know! So fierce! UPDATE: For those that can’t find it at Zara stores, there’s a bunch on eBay. Of course the prices are higher but if you’re in dire need of them…go for it! Check the auctions below. More pics after the jump…

i got these babies the day they came out at the Zara here in Costa Mesa, CA. i was checking almost everyday and finally they got them in! I was able to get one in my size, and just a few days later theres only 1 pair left. I LOVE them… i wore them out for a night out and although they hurt after a while of walking/standing, they are soooo fierce!!! lots of compliments which made it well worth it! haha.

I work at zara Amsterdam (the netherlands) and love the shoes. But they werent available in my size anymore. The shoes are no longer for sale, but we still have em displayed at in the window. Luckily I have a great manager that is willing to make an exception.. and as soon as the soes come out of the window.. I can be a proud ownerr of these fierce babies! yaaayyy!!
Normally I always worry about comfort.. but these sandals are way too sexy to worry about comfort!!!!

I just wrote up a post on Balmain’s S/S 09 collection, applauding this designer’s truly amazing couture skillzzz. I never knew though that Zara made a version of those stilettos, and am very sadddd that I can’t get my hands on a pair now. Hmmm…wonder if Zara or some other chain attempts at replicating his insanely hot military jacket with bold shoulder sometime soon.

Ahhhhhhhhhh I had those in my hands here in Mexico, and I didnt buy them, I got a call and got distracted!!!!!!!!!!!! I completely forgot about them until now!!!!!!!!!!!!! jajajajajajaja how could I!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i actually bought these a few weeks ago, and preened and pranced in the mirror. they’re gorgeous, but the straps get a bit uncomfy and realistically, as a law student, i am more comfortable in chic flats and sandals than these. at $169, they had to go back. i returned them at the zara on 5th ave. i’m a size 10, and the girls behind the counter eyed the shoes, so i dunno if they put them out for sale. anyway, a piece of my heart broke when i returned them — but i found a gorgeous buttery black leather jacket with a cowl neck to cheer me up. thanks for showcasing these. perhaps they are a little bit too close to the balmain design to be considered an homage, but they’re gorgeous nonetheless. i hope that in the future, i’ll have the job and income to shell out and get wear out of balmain babies.
grrr.. im drooling and i just purchased the aldo ones u posted but these are wayyyyyyyy hotter.. So there no longer out anywhere…??

I bought them then returned them the same day…. size 6 at the Zara Robson location (in vancouver). It was the last pair of size 6s. I found a pair of Seychelles that were much more classic for $25 originally $125. So yeah returned them and bought a Talula Babaton skirt from Aritzia!
I went into my Zara store for them today ..didnt see them at first. Asked the SA and she told me that they had been sent back to the warehouse for COPYRIGHT reasons…… NO!

I just bought these sandals off of eBay in a size 40. I definitely paid more than the retail price, but with eBay, that is to be expected. The seller posted a lot of detailed photos, which I relied on to make my final decision, as well as this blog entry by RetroGurl. The quality and finish on the shoes look wonderful. They are made in Spain, so I suspect (and hope) that the quality will be similar to Pedro Garcia shoes, which are also made in Spain. I have never bought anything from Zara before, so I am really excited to receive them!
Generally, I am quite steadfast against supporting fakes and inspired-bys, but for the first time, I really had to make an exception. The Balmain originals are $2300 USD, and even if I had that kind of money to spend on shoes, they are sold out on Net-a-Porter. Also, I don’t really have a problem with an inspired-by piece if the designer/label that has made them has actually done a good job of them – that is, they are not insulting to the original because they are of shoddy quality.
I will report back once I receive my pair!
