With our bad economy right now retailers are struggling for business and everyone is trying to save as much as they can. Times are tough, even luxury brands are branching out into secondary lines to attract more customers. Coach is releasing a new budget friendly collection called Poppy for Fall 2009. The collection of vibrant and edgy pieces mixes a preppy East Coast vibe with punky sensibilities for a result that is decidedly spirited and youthful in appeal. Poppy introduces a variety of fresh silhouettes, vibrant colors, and a broader price range to this playful and confident collection of handbags and accessories. A new Poppy logo is inspired by notebook graffiti and evokes a playful energy that rings throughout the collection. Some of the featured bags includes the Spotlight Shoulder Bag which is the collection’s centerpiece, its convertible strap detailing, slouchy shape, and playful shoelace cinched sides make for an irresistibly chic and whimsical combination. The Rhinestone Spotlight and XL Sequin Spotlight are also very cute. A slew of retro inspired totes and accessories further emphasize the unique and versatile sensibility of Poppy. The Bonnie Tote and Mini Frame feature Coach’s coveted details, including vintage shapes, girly details like pleating, and quirky hardware for an unquestionably stylish result. Footwear, jewelry, eyewear, and select apparel items also join the collection for a complete look that is pitch-perfect for the season. The range is really cute and young, I would totally rock some of the pieces! The collection retails from $198 to $598, which includes an array of headbands, handbags, wristlets, pochettes, footwear, accessories, eyewear, and apparel items. The collection debuts in July in stores and online at Coach.com.

a lot of it looks like fake coach and i think it’s funny that their price point is similar to their old school price point.
ugh, i dont like any of these items.
coach just doesnt do it for me… but i guess if your a fan already these items would be nice for your child or someone extra young. too much prints all on one bag! i think they should lower the prices a bit more and just try to target middle school to like 10th grade school kids for this line. -not impressed. i’d rather go for a marc by marc j bag for that price.
Don’t really like it at all. I like some coach not alot but these i really dislike this. It looks fake and cheap.
IDC what anyone says about Coach, it’s cute, colorful and very spring. I like this collection.
One word — hideous
Coach has gone bizzzzurk. I love them for there elegance. But this is ridiculous, theres pink and/or glitter on everything.
UHHHH! Coach has completely gone cheesy. What are they trying to reach those desperate housewives that are trying to dress like their 15 yr old daughter.
The sneakers that were kinda in the background look kinda cute.
seriously? I don’t know how I feel about this. I cant decide if it was a smart move or just plain desperate!
LOVE IT. coach needed some refreshing. were losing their younger customers..
and i think some people think it looks way too colorful because they’re seeing all the pieces at once. maybe if you saw one just on someone else on the street/elsewhere, you’d appreciate it.
I agree with andietee. I normally don’t like Coach but I think these are ok. Like everything else they have to be used in moderation – not all together like in the post
Kinda like the Silver sequin bag and the fuchsia tote
are those shoes in the pictures on the first page wedges or a heel? it looks like they’re navy or black with some glitter in the patent tips. am i right? i’m totally diggin’ the jewelry and the crazy c print bags and accessories.

Looks like the silver bag with all the sequins is up for sale already…lol
This makes me so sad… it might as well be sold at target….. or walmart.
I purchased the new gold leather poppy bag. I love it. I get so many stares and compliments on the bag. I purchased the first bag from Dillards in New Orleans the day after they went on display. I have the only one sold in Louisiana right now . It is a younger fresher design from the classic bags I usually purchase from Coach. I have lots of Coach products, bags, shoes, jewerly. I guess you can call me a fan. I think my Gold Poppy is going to be my favorite for now.
hey sasha so does dillards in new orleans has more bags from the poppy collection or do they just have the gold leather poppy bag ?
I love it all. so far have found 2 bags online but waiting for more.
any idea where I can find these bags now!!!!!!
Thease pictures do not do the new poppy collection any justice. The bags are the same quality as coach provides and at great. Price point don’t count the bags out intill you see theam in person they do have bright colors as well as regular colors and those who enjoy coach will love this line
One Word: A W E S O M E

YES! I AM POPPY!!!
This is a bright and hopeful statement from Coach. Is this the collection I hear Reed Krakoff is putting out as “his” private line for Coach or something to that effect? Does anyone know what I’m talking about? Also, there was mention months ago about lvhm buying Coach…does anyone have an update on that?
Anyone who says the bags look fake and cheap obviously cannot afford Coach. I think this was a smart business move. This collection was driven to attract the younger customers. I believe its flirty, young and very cute. I’ve never seen Coach like this before and I find this new line to be a suprising twist that you wouldn’t expect. Very glam. Love it
Fantastic collection! I purchased the Coach Spotlight w/the multi color rhinestones. I love it. Coach has turned around a stodgy, boring collection (think Willis Bag) into a very stylish designer name.
There are only 200 of the bag I purchased in existence. I bought mine in the Forum Shops in Las Vegas.
I love being the first girl to own this bag — and the fact counterfeits will spring up does not bother me. Mine is the real deal and that is all that matters!
I do not know why all the negative comments are here.
Most of the time people write to complain, so I guess that is why all the griping in this comment thread.
I also agree that the people who find these bags “cheap” or “cheesy” probably can’t afford this handbag line.
I own several bags by Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Versace, Brighton, the Coach Sabrina and now the black/multi sparkle spotlight.
The Spotlight is fantastic as a travel bag as well as a fun daybag. I prefer bags that are large and can hold it all. I tend to carry my entire life in a handbag, so this fantastic series is spot on!
I am 54 years old and DO NOT feel it is for teens — this bag is for anybody wanting to add fun and glitz into her wardrobe.
A little black dress and a Poppy Handbag says it all!
I really love the simple red coach poppy tote bag. I wish there were more in different colors. I will probably buy one sometime in the future. I really hate coaches boring stuff crap.
i normally don’t like coach products at all, they look too old and stuffy for my taste. I was going to buy a MBMJ purse but i ended up getting the spotlight tote in blueberry and i really love it. it is a bold statement piece and very roomy, i think the line could be advertised differently to appeal to 20 somethings but the bag is awesome and i’m really happy with it. it’s a new and interesting approach for coach.
This is exactly the kind of line my young teen daughter would love. It’s so nice to have some vibrant color out there for these younger girls that is high quality. I find it refreshing, and am probably going to get her a couple of pieces from the line for her fall wardrobe.
The colors are kind of garish and tacky? I don’t know..maybe it looks better in the flesh.
I liked the cream and pale orange tote quite a bit, though.
Kisses! XX

YALL BE SOME HATERS YO LIKE FOR REAL WTF
I love the look. I love color and I love the big splash of sunshine I call it. Who ever doesn’t like it must be boring lol. I a splash of color in life…Don’t you?
I ment I like a splash of color in life*…And by the way im 22 and love coach! Not childsih or tacky at all =)
I think this was actually a good direction for Coach, because they’re expanding their market. Economy is awful these days, some people can’t afford to purchase $500 handbags anymore. And some of us who can don’t always want to. In order to stay afloat, they needed to broaden their appeal. To the young and to the old. To the big spenders and the frugalistas. I give Coach their props.
My mom and I were in Manhattan and walked into the Coach store. I just turned 56 and my mom was treating me to a Coach bag. This was my first Coach…We bought the poppy brand in brown with the C’s all over it. I really wanted a regular pocketbook, but the prices were outrageous and the pocketbooks were too small…I carry alot….A few days later I went to Tangier Outlet in Riverhead, where they have a Coach store and EVERYTHING was on sale..they were giving 20% off coupons with an additional 50% on most of the pocketbooks. At first I thought I should have come here with my mom to begin with…Then I thought about it and realized the Poppy bag that i had purchased was new and fresh whereas the one’s in the Coach outlets were old and not particularly seasonal. I do not think the Poppy brand is only for teens…I think if that were the case, the saleswoman would have said something to me. A new and current bag was like $400, and i did not want my mom to pay that ridiculous price!!!! I am happy with my Poppy and it’s for everybody…young and older!!!!
I love this collection! If I had the money, I’d buy all! I have the small gold purse with the chains, etc, and I got the spotlight tote in poppy print. I got a silver pop c tote too. Am looking for the wristlets to match. I love Coach and this particular collection is so me!
