I must admit I haven’t watched TWILIGHT yet so I never really understood what the hype is all about but a few of my friends did. They’ve been raving about the movie, watching it literally everyday and crushing on the main character Robert Pattinson (Edward Cullen). Later on in the afternoon I’m about to find out if I’ll be obsessed over it, I’m not really sure what will happen. I’ll be hitting my friend’s crib for “An Afternoon with Cullens” party with a few girlfriends, it should be fun. But if I do indeed get converted into a fan, you’ll be reading a lot about it on my blog, if I don’t then that’s the end of it.

Did you watch the movie yet? Are you obsessed or it wasn’t all that? Let me know I want to hear your thoughts. Whose your favorite character?

For those of you that want to buy the movie, the DVD and Blu-ray are available at Target. The 3-Disc Deluxe Edition DVD includes iTunes Download of Film and Bonus Content ($17.99) and 2-Disc Deluxe Edition Blu-ray ($24.99) includes iTunes Download of the Film and Bonus Content both only available at Target.

I’ll be back to update this post with pictures from the party and report about my thoughts later. Please don’t spoil the movie for me, I haven’t watched it yet!

UPDATE 03.23.2009 @ 1:10AM:
I finally had a chance to sit down and update this post, so I finally watched TWILIGHT at my gurl Simone’s crib yesterday with Michelle, Jessica and Victoria. Simone was all prepared, she had the GQ with Robert Pattinson on the cover out, apples, pizza/ravioli, “lion” ribs, cookies and red velvet cupcakes. I think the movie was pretty good but not to a point where I’m obsessive over it (at least not yet). At the moment I’m not even interested in reading the book, may be I’ll have to watch it again since I got distracted quite a few times during the movie (ahem crazy gurls haha). But I have to admit that Robert Pattinson (Edward Cullen) is a hottie, he is super seductive and really cute when he smiles. Edward was definitely the highlight of the movie, his awkardness makes him super cute! Overall the movie was pretty good since I have a fascination with vampire and fantasy movies. Check out What The Forks if you’re a Twilight fan! Big thanks to Simone for inviting me over and feeding me, check out the pics for now…until next time…

More pics after the jump…

I read Twilight and I have to say I got obsessed. I’m a sucker for romance and on top of that, it involves vampires. I love vampire stories and this saga really has a great twist on them.

I definitely think the book is a lot better because you get more details. I’m almost done with New Moon (the 2nd book) and I’m taking my time with it cause I wanna watch the next film while the book is still fresh in my mind.

I’m the type who needs things in my face to get obsessed so my obsession level is pretty low right now since I took a long break, but once I pick up the book, I’m hooked and I can’t stop thinking about it and yes, Edward! haha

    I hope you enjoy it!!

  • Helen says:

those who rave about the movie are those teenagers who can’t decipher between a quality movie and just a plain sucky one!

I gotta say the book is so much better than the movie. The movie didn’t portray it the way I expected it. There is no chemistry between bella and edward on screen due to their stiffness especially on bella part. And where is that swooning smirk/smile that is often mention in the book?

Not hating on the movie, I just thought it could have done so much better. I DID however enjoy the rest of the characters especially Jasper and Alice!

  • Maria P. says:

To be a true fan, you have to read the books! Agreed Helen!! Definitely on the lack of chemistry between Bella and Edward..I didn’t feel a think! And I loved Alice in the film as well.

It’s so funny you posted this, cuz i just watch twilight for the first time friday night. I’ve been debating with myself to not watch it until i finished the entire series. (im so happy i did)

Honestly, the books are amazing, they just have a way of sucking you in with the romance surrounding the characters. And when you watch it, i also think the best scenes are between edward and bella just completely, romantically caught up in each other, (ex: when bella goes to his house or the last scene when they are dancing).

However, the movie over all is low in the acting department and the cgi surprisingly. (i hate how the vampires run). Without the hype surrouding the series there is no way it could have done as well as it has. But it was just ok for me. I can’t hate it because i love the series too much but i only hope with a new director for the sequel and the gained experience from the cast, new moon will be much better.

My favorite characters were emmett, jasper, alice and jacob.

  • Rachel says:

wow…I’m going to be the only dissenting voice.

I think Twilight is so TERRIBLY written that I will never finish the series. Stephanie Meyer is not a good writer at all; the only reason she’s on that NYT Bestseller list is because these books are the first to accessibly exploit vampires and romance, which women are absolute suckers for.

The movie I think is quite good compared to the book. It cuts out all the cheesy description/narration and just gets down to the story. I agree that the love story could be played up more, but I really enjoyed it.

  • Justine says:

    I have read the book 1, 2, 3 and i’m reading the 4 and i love it.
    I’m addicting to it!
And i have watched the movie twice…i just love TWILIGHT LOL
    Kiss J

i never read the books. watched the movie online… one of those easy to watch movies. it was alright, though i didn’t find any of the cast members that attractive as they’re hyped up to be? since i didn’t read the book, the baseball game scene was SO random and i was LOLing. haha. all my friends tell me the books are bomb, though. i don’t want to get sucked in, so i refuse to read them :P

  • Kristna says:

I just watched the movie for the 4th time! i went and saw it 3 times in the theatres, and just bought it lol..
I am still reading the books.. Im on the 3rd book right now, and am so obsessed. its crazy to think that you can actually be in love with a fictional character haha.. when i tell people how amazing the books are, they dont really seem interested because its about vampires… well there is soo much more to the story!
    love love love it!

  • lykia D says:

the movie was not well made at all like when he went up the tree i saw the wires ……it’s like a the budget for the movie was like cut or something… i give it 4 sad faces :( :( :( :(

  • marsha says:

i had no interest in watching twilight but i just saw it last night and i loved it! i’m hooked. i’m sure i’ll be reading the books very soon.

  • yoshi says:

PUWAHAHHAHAHA!!!! YESSSSSSSS!!!! i will suck you into the madness wendy – hahahaha! see you soon!!!

  • Jessica says:

I love the books, but I have to agree they are not well written. I tried to start Twilight 20 times over the course of a year before I really read it. The storyline is perfection, but the writing is mediocre at best. I think Midnight Sun, Edward’s version of Twilight, is written better. Robert Pattinson is dreamy, but Kristen Stewart is very stiff.

  • shosho says:

you have got to read the book. way better than the movie. the only good thing about the movie is robert pattinson (swoon swoon sigh sigh) i read all the 4 books in less than 2weeks. I loveed the books especially new moon. wendy you just need to read the books. I went into total depressin while reading new moon. wish all men were an edward (or the perfection that portrays him in the movie)

  • 熊貓girl says:

oh i hope you like it! i love the movie and the books!!

  • Rachel says:

this was technically considered a “low budget film” because they had such little money to make it, which is why the cgi sucks lol. anyway, i don’t think the movie lived up to the book series, but i still liked it. i do agree with what .. someone said, i don’t remember who – stephenie meyer is not the best writer by far. but she writes well enough to completely suck you in to her books, so she must be good at something! i think the second movie is going to be really fantastic, though. hope you enjoy it!

  • mara says:

What made the movie good was having already been hooked on the books, when I watched it in the theatre for the first time, there were squeals and squeeks when Edward first appeared and when Edward and Bella would get really close, and you could just tell every single person in the theatre read it. But yeah I highly suggest reading the first two books, at least before New Moon comes out in November. I went through all four books in less than a month and was sad when it ended heh. Still waiting for Midnight Sun.

  • yoshi says:

what the forks?! c’mon wendy – you KNOW you loved it as much as the rest of us did HEHEHEHEHEHEHEHE!!!! watch the trailers again when you get home HAHAHAHHAHA! we still gotta watch it with chico!

  • Jessica says:

You can read the partial draft of midnight sun on stephanie meyer’s offical website. It ends right before they have their day together. She is undecided on if she will finish it, but even reading half of it is better than none.

  • Jesslee says:

I read the books a few years ago and just watched the film yesterday. Maybe I’m a little old for these types of movies (@ 19yrs old LOL) but the acting was comparable to a high school play. I almost feel robbed for wasting an hour and a half of my life on this movie.

  • CzerwonaAzalia says:

the thing is – in poland we don’t have that all hype about teenage movies – this is not in our movie tradition or history so most of ppl i know find this film rather stupid or boring. I of course understand guys who like it – we not take it seriously, it’s not kieślowski or wang kar-wai, but still i can’t stand it – it too, ehh i don’t know… just don’t like it at all :)

  • Thanh says:

I love how there’s a magazine spread of Robert Pattinson, a lit candle, and food surrounding him. hahaha your friends are too great!!!

  • Vickie says:

i think the book is much more interesting, the movie is kinda short and didn’t tell a lot of things about edward, there is so much to him.

  • Vernie says:

i read it and bought the dvd. it’s ok for a teeny bopper series….what they need to make a rated R version. mmm hmm

  • mara says:

I think they should make Breaking Dawn rated R.. mm-hmm!

  • tris. says:

i saw the movie when it first came out and i thought it was ok. i knew of the books but never was interested in reading cuz of the vampire bit. i’m a punk. i don’t like scary stories. lol.

but a couple months later my younger sis got the book and was raving about it so i decided to read it. the writing was bleh. i mean she’s not horrible as many say. she told a very great love story though. i was hooked. i read the entire series in 4 days. not kidding. i’ve re-read it three times. i think that the dynamic between edward and bella is absolutely engrossing. i couldn’t get enough.

after reading the series i watched the movie again and though i love the attempt to bring these two characters to life. i think the acting blew vomit chunks. robert pattinson plays an ok edward. he got the essence of the character but there were some things that were overlooked in is portrayal. his personality is so much more intricate than what they showed. as for kristen stweart as bella. ugh. she looks exactly like bella should look. but she did not capture bella at ALL. it was really annoying.

but like many others said the actors playing alice, jasper, and emmet were perfect.
