Went by to the H&M flagship store at 51st Street/5th Ave this morning at about 8:15am with my friend for the Matthew Williamson for H&M Spring ‘09 Collection release and the line was surprisingly short (it was nothing like COMME des GARCONS). The mother and daughter team that was first in line was there since 10pm yesterday waiting for the doors to open at 9am this morning both were wearing the COMME des GARCONS for H&M polka scarf, the girls behind them arrived at 6am. I ran into one of my readers, Melissa, that was the 5th person in line, she got there at 6:40am and was nice enough to let me cut the line (thank you!). As the doors opened at exactly 9am everyone flew in grabbed everything in sight by multiples, but there were plenty of everything to go around if people weren’t that greedy. I was too busy shopping to take pics but after I got what I wanted I started to snap pics. According to sources there were only 12 pieces of the leather vest and I’m a proud owner, it’s so hot! It was chaos in there, after a few mins one side of the walls was bare and staff started to fill it with regular H&M products. The prices are not cheap but the quality is pretty good, definitely a few pieces worth picking up. At least the people were civilized this time, no seen fights and people seemed calm after the first 15 mins haha. Initially I wasn’t going to go but I knew I’d regret not getting the leather vest, studded belts and blue blazer and luckily my friend dragged me, I seriously needed motivation and she gave me that extra kick. So glad I went because those pieces I got were pretty amazing, can’t wait to wear them! When I left at around 10am, the mannequins were bare except for the window displays but there were still tons of peacock cardigans, studded belts and a few clutchs available so go quick if you want piece of MW! If not you can wait for the Summer ‘09 collection which launchs on May 14th for women and men. Did any of you guys go? Buy anything? Tell me your story! And of course for those that do not have a H&M or couldn’t get the pieces you want, there’s always eBay. There’s a ton up on eBay already. More pics after the jump…

This looks more sane and humane than the Comme des Garcons collaboration opening!
I’m so upset…. I went to the H/H on 34 the line wasnt that bad
But 34st only carried certain peices UN-BLOODY-FAIR!!!
I truly wanted to pink dress and shorts and tey did not have it at all i was told they wouldnt have it until May 7th.
For reference 34ST ONLY had the belts,peacock dress,short version to long dress,peacock cardigans,pink/yellow tops,scarf,leather jacket,purse,necklace,butterfly print dress,top…Yup thats about it.
Will they be releasing more of these pieces with the summer collection, or is what was snatched up today all that’s available? We need some down here in DC!
my boston store did not have the wide leather belts or the fuschia dress left when i went at lunchtime today. (i dont think they got the fuschia dress at all)
the only thing i bought was the pink studded belt. (it says its leather but im not sure it is)
the salesperson told me that the belts would return in may.
do you think this may be true? are some items returning?

Well I live in LA & I arrived @ H&M around 9:00 am. Doors didn’t open till 10:00 am, but let me tell you that as soon as they opened those doors everyone was pushing! I must have gotton pushed about 3 times & got scratched by someone :-/
It was all worth it, got what i wanted the beautiful clutch purse & the pink cardigan!
The Atlanta store didn’t get everything in, but I got the main piece that I was waiting for so it’s okay. Haha I did a huge post in my blog about it too. It was fun but luckily not insane.
Here in Rotterdam there was pleeenty of clothing left at the end of the afternoon. I think there weren’t even any queues this morning.. even though I really like the blue blazer, I didn’t bought anything.

I’m definitely kicking myself in the aRss right now for not going to at least one of the stores yesterday in NYC! The one i had my eye on was the brown-ish leather motorcycle jacket. DAmNit!!!
I was really lucky to go to the pre-launch event in London, that Mischa Barton attended. The queue got massive, but I was first in line got loads of amazing stuff and the quality of the fabrics is really good. Def worth it!! People’s behaviour was a little crazy though, things were literally gone within 20 mins.
In Holland, almost every all pieces are still available, so I was glad to pick up the pink belt this afternoon. I love it!
will they be offering more pieces later on ? totally missed out .. next time im gonna have to take the day off from work
Did anyone go to the Chicago location on Michigan Ave? I am in Wisconsin and I am wondering if they got most of the collection, which would make the drive worth it! Thanks!
Hi. I’m frantically looking for the blue blazer (to match the pants). Please let me know if anyone knows how i can get it. Preferabley around a size 6, 8, or 10 (UK) or 2,4,6 (US).
