I was so excited about the OPI Matte Collection that’s launching in July, when I got the new matte You Don’t Know Jacques! polish to try out I couldn’t wait. This is the first time I’ve tried on the matte nail polish, so I really didn’t know what to expect. The matte polish dries very quickly (which is a good and bad thing) and is less messy than the normal glossy polishes, I used a base coat and no top coat to keep the matte look. With that said you need to be quick when painting your nails to avoid streaks, bumps and unevenness, I’m no expert with painting my nails but you get the idea so please look pass the not so professional manicure haha. The matte look is pretty interesting, I’m liking it. As mentioned in the press release, the “OPI Matte does not wear as long as original OPI Nail Lacquer” but it’s cool since I change my color all the time. I’ll keep track of how long my polish starts chipping, hopefully it will keep on for at least a week since there’s no top coat. Pretty interesting look, if you like the matte look the collection hits shelves in July. What do you think of the matte trend?

i think i like it.
I’m loving the look of matte nails. I got a bottle of it in gray from obsessive compulsive cosmetics and I’ve been rocking it for the last 2 months. Can’t wait to discover opi’s stuff.

I really like the colour. How is it called?
I must say, being a guy and all, I don’t know the ins-and-outs of manicures. But I don’t particularly like the matte nail look, from an artistic point of view. Nails have a natural shine on them, and so to remove that apearence, it sorta comes off looking like you took wall-paint, and slapped it on your nails. I guess it’s something new and trendy that just doesn’t grab me right.
Love that color. It does really look Matte! Wow what other colors do they have?

Fmo, i kinda had a high expectation upon your last post on O.p.i launching this new collection of matte, conversely disappointed at how it looks..maybe the colour is not that appealing on the pictures.however, i’m not giving up yet because i love matte colour in general as i think that it’s very earthy..so i wouldn’t mind testing the other colours included in this collection.:)

I have the same color in glossy (from the French collection) and it’s one of my favorite colors!

I like the colour of the polish but not the finish..
omg i loveeee the matte finish!!
they also say that if you put basecoat over your regualar nail polish instead of topcoat, it removes the shine.. so give it a try!
Yeah the color you have on was released a while back most opi colors just get recycled
i’ve loooved Knock Off matte nail polish for months now, cool that OPI is doing the trend, but kind of takes away from the specialness/uniqueness of the Knock Out brand: http://koknockout.com/
Kristina – these colors were recycled on purpose – OPI took their 6 best selling colors to launch their matte line.
I have russian navy, lincoln park after dark, and you don’t know jacques in the gloss finish – I can’t wait to experiment with tone on tone designs!
