Beth Ditto for Evans Plus Size Collection Preview

Back in January, I first posted about the Beth Ditto for Evans Plus Size Collection, finally The Sun has a preview of what to expect from the collection. The capsule collection has a strong Eighties feel and will consist of clothing, accessories and shoes. Casual and formal pieces feature embellished graphic designs, while oversized knitwear, draped jersey tops and dresses are inspired by vintage pieces sourced by Ditto, who worked closely with Evans head of design – Lisa Marie Peacock – in developing the range. Definitely one of the best plus size collection I’ve seen so far, some cute stuff in the collection!

The plus size collection will be available in sizes 14-32 and starts at £18. Official release date is on July 9, 2009, keep a lookout for more details on www.bethdittoatevans.co.uk. Are all my plus size ladies excited?

More pics after the jump…

Super cute! Too bad the clothes don’t come in smaller sizes.

  • Chelsea says:

Speaking as someone who’s on the line between non-plus and plus-sized fare, I’m not crazy about the boxy, oversized silhouette or the clinging dresses for us heavier girls. I know this was all the rage in ‘85, but it would be great to see things that go in at the waist (or at the ribcage/slightly under the bust). As someone with broad shoulders and wide hips, these would make me look like a linebacker drag queen.

  • secondbecky says:

omg she’s absolutely gorgeous when she’s wearing clothes! she should do it more often.

  • The clothes are sooo cute! Sucks it is not made in small sizes.

  • waoh says:

the clothes are a train wreck and i cannot imagine very many self respecting girls, plus sized or not, in any of it. but i like that the plus-sized market is getting some publicity.

  • melissa says:

This stuff is really cute. Good job. And the model is really pretty.

  • Elise says:

Is that model in the first pictures really considered ‘plus size?’ Jeebus. Time to get myself to the gym.

  • Jasmine says:

@ Elise I was saying the same thing I don’t even consider that model to be plus size

  • Naja says:

Some of these pieces are really cute. Evans never disappoints.

  • Yeni says:

lol yeah i was looking at the model and laughing she’s like a small 14 it’s ridiculous these clothes go up to 22 and they use the smallest model wth … anyway how are these going to suit bigger girls i cannot see it happening

  • dee says:

ok look at Beth’s legs ( in the purple dress ) they so photoshopped her

  • Ruth says:

Some of it’s brilliant( the domino dress, the purple hooded top and the flower print dress), but some of it is absolutely atrocious. Still as someone who prefers to dress in an alternative fashion this is great. Evans introducing a range which is less mainstream is both brave and brilliant. I don’t know what’s changed but as a store they’ve really moved on.

  • Emalyn says:

    @ dee – That’s a doll.

  • Honey wants to talk to Sir Phillip says:

Chelsea: ‘….I’m not crazy about the boxy, oversized silhouette or the clinging dresses for us heavier girls. I hear u but have u ever heard of Belts Chelsea?? u don’t have to wear the clothes as they are modelled accessorise Belt things up, scrunch things up, turn things back to front, use scarfs jewellry turn things upside down…. as a plus size woman u cant expect to just get something wonderful straight off the peg with the amount of discrimination and sizism towards bigger women. Plus size women need to become stylists to themselves like Beth probly had to. (That reminds me Evans you need more wide belts!)

the same guy that owns Topshop owns Evans too
He needs to stop the discrimination and do bigger sizes in Topshop most peoplein the uk are over a 16. If you want someone to revamp the rest of Evans by all means let me know I could do it.

The problem with evans is that it patronisingly tries to appeal to every fat woman and u can’t do that. eg I’m kinda Soul punk bohemian electro vintage chic right now so Topshop wud b cool for me but no I shop with Grannies in Evans who walk around picking things up saying
‘ooh Margeret this is a bit frumpy isnt it’
When my slim friends have to walk into Evans with me I can see their eyes that they think the clothes are wack but dont really want to hurt my feelings.

You need to revamp the whole shop change the decor change the logo infact change the name. Call me Sir Phillip Green I’ll help you orchestrate the entire overhaul.

This Beth Ditto range is hot and will sell like hotcakes but the reason for its success will be because Beth Ditto is hot not Evans, Evans are totally riding off her cool. Evans has 0% cool, the Beth Ditto collection is its only redeeming feature.

Can I just say that model in the pics is hilariously small, i smell fear Evans???.
They should have got some intentionally fatter big fiercely beautiful women with attitude to model it (at least 18/20plus)….like Ditto it would have been way more controversial and hot.

controversy is sexy, uniqueness is beautiful

Evans is so wimpy. Beth is soooooo Hot (and love the doll)

  • Honey wants to talk to Sir Phillip says:

I’ve got to say thank heavens for Beth!

*love the Domino dress, oversized electric blue sequins & the ever so 80’s vintage looking oversized jumper at the top Beth is on point….and its all because of Beth not Evans

  • Jessica says:

    LOVE love love itt

  • carole freeman says:

    The model happens to be a size 16 – not thin!!!! – but she’s tall – 6′ – I know because I’m her mum !!!!!

  • Melissa says:

@carole freeman: Size 16 at 6 feet tall IS THIN!!!

  • Ivonne says:

I think the line is great and am planning to get most of it. It really is a change from all the granny clothes that you find in most places. So thank God for Ditto and hopefully when Evans sees how well they do with the line they will update the rest of the store. (Though I don’t know I’ve never been to Evans but a friend pointed me to this site and well now I HAVE to go)

BTW another place to get cool decent plus sized clothing is http://www.torrid.com

    Cheers,
    Ivo

  • Amanda says:

Babe totally luv it all! Gotta make it availbe in Australia!!!!

  • itsit says:

How come they got a relatively thin plus sized model to model clothes for plus size?
    thats a load of CRAP.

  • plus sizes says:

hope there is more to come. tks
