AVATAR

I finally watched AVATAR in IMAX 3D this past weekend and I have to say, I’m OBSESSED! I need to watch it again before the movie goes off the big screen! If you’re thinking about waiting for it on DVD or watching a bootleg version, I advise you not to. This movie needs to be watched in full effect, IMAX 3D for sure!

Before watching this movie, I had no idea what’s it about because I refused to watch the trailer. I didn’t even want to read up on it, I basically wanted to go in to the movies without anything about it. The only thing I knew was that James Cameron has been developing this movie since after Titanic in 1997, that’s 12 years! Why did it take so long? At the time he wanted to make the movie there were technical difficulties that got in the way of his vision. According to the Daily Mail, for the movie, he co-developed a new generation of stereoscopic cameras. Simplified, this is the equivalent of two cameras strapped together, each providing a slightly different perspective on the scene, mimicking the way human eyes view the world in three dimensions. I’m not going to get too geeky because I can and will, so you’ll just have to watch it yourself.

I was already impressed once I heard that, so I knew it was a must see movie plus all his movies are good. The movie was beyond fascinating, brings the mind into a magical world and it made me want to go there. At first the blue skin Na’vi aliens looked weird, but after a while of looking at them they started to look beautiful especially when the skin sparkles at night. The storyline follows the future battle between Earth and Pandora, a ‘terrifyingly beautiful’ world full of strange creatures and rich minerals. The love story between Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) and Neytiri (Zoe Saldana) was beautiful. AVATAR is definitely nothing you’ve seen before!

I have to be honest, I was a bit sad to be back in the “real world” when the movie ended, sounds silly but I was really into it. I haven’t felt so passionate about a movie since God knows when. I’m so glad that there are two planned sequels but they won’t be one continuous story, they’ll be self-contained. Hopefully the second movie won’t take as long as the first movie to release. Now I can obsess it more lol. I think I know what I want to be for Halloween this year, lol! Neytiri, here I come!

Anyone good with photoshop want to transform me into an ‘AVATAR’, I want to be a Na’vi lol!

Have you watched AVATAR? Your thoughts? I like it so much, I think I want to start a blog for it lol! More pics and movie trailer after the jump…

it’s such an inspiring, visually stunning film on imax 3D. avatar is THE film of the 21st century that people will be talking about generations later such as all great james cameron films. i did not realize how involved the actors/actresses were. i thought they just created the cgi and used their voices, but they actually had cameras capturing their body movements so the characters in the film were all the actors’/actresses’ movements and characteristics. upon learning this, i fell in love with avatar even more. i’d love to see it again (for the third time!) on imax 3D because that’s the only way to go, imo.
i was a bit saddened that the plot was similar to a cartoon movie from 1992 called ferngully. but avatar was much more magical with the effects and almost realistic! i have no idea what kind of film could top avatar…..

MichellePhan did an Avatar inspired look on youtube, but it’s not the full Navi make-up. I’m hoping she will do it for Halloween!

The storyline is completely ridiculous, like something a 5 year old would write.

I don’t see what people love so much about this movie, to be honest, it’s such a cliche.
