Forever 21 Opens Times Square Flagship Store

I remember back in 2008 when I first reported that Forever 21 will be opening their flagship store at 1540 Broadway in Times Square in a location previously occupied by Tower Records, finally doors opened yesterday! I almost forgot about it until I got an invite for a special preview of the store prior to the opening and opening celebration, unfortunately I am still in Asia so I wasn’t able to attend! I was super bummed since I’m a big fan of Forever 21, I’ll just have to settle with images via WWD for now until I return to NYC to check out the store in person.

The four-level, 91,257-square-foot flagship store is opened from 8 a.m. to 2 a.m., so you can really shop till you drop! It also will has 151 fitting rooms, 32 cash registers and 500 employees, hopefully that means no lines to pay and trying on clothes. Have any of you guys checked out the store yet? Your thoughts?

500 employees? I doubt their customer service will improve though…..

Wow!!! This is amazing! Now to book a ticket to NYC

  3. LanaMK says:

Wow, that is huge! I must pay it a visit.

    I really wish I was in NY…

    hahha
even though there were 151 fitting rooms, there were still long lines! It's much more spacious and organized than any other F21 in NY. They were giving away canteens around 11am

I was there! The line went around the block!…but it moved quickly. As the first thousand people walked in the associates were at the entrance clapping and cheering and handing out gift cards as we entered. Mine was for $10 but there were cards that went from $10 to $210! The were also giving out cute canvas tote bags and a free t shirt.

The store is beautiful. All the associates were super helpful and friendly. It was really overwhelming, but I had a lot of fun in the hour and a half I spent in the store. Next time, I will stay longer because you really need to be there for hours to see everything. The lines for the fitting room were still long though :/ Hopefully once the grand opening feeling goes away, lines will move quicker.

wow! looks great! most of our forever 21s look like a big yard sale. It makes you not want to buy anything. such a shame

this sounds really terrible. The Forever 21 in SoHo is a madhouse, and already full of tourists. I imagine this one will be worse, more confusing and stressful. As much as I like some of the things they have there, I literally cannot bring myself to go into these stores anymore because of the confusion!

    Riiiight @ Shirin Elle

But yeah……that seems like suicide if you've worked retail before. 8am-2am? Is that really necessary? And can they close the entire store in 6 hours…?

  10. Emily says:

urban outfitters is the same as f21. we close the store at 10pm and stay till 3 am cleaning.
those sale cubbyholes are impractical, someone up in corporate need to pass a memo to make sale like express & victoria secret where it's just cardboard boxes for people to dig.

  11. tina says:

They probably won't restock the clothing quickly even if there ARE 500 employees. I'd stick with the smaller stores in 34th street or union square since there'd be much less havoc.

  12. Oliverio says:

I'm sad my beautiful Cerritos isn't the country's flagship anymore. :(

  13. Mel says:

wow!!! The store looks so clean and neat!

Gorgeous store… BUT … I dont think I'll be going there any time soon… I think I would have a nervous breakdown with the 1000s of women running around to find an outfit .. Forever 21 gets packed in my area of New Jersey and I cant stand it.. as soon as I see that line I run out .. Cant deal with the havoc and the endless tstands, rolling racks of randomness…

  15. If I spend hours in the regular size Forever XXI stores, I think a whole day wouldn't be enough in the NYC flagship! I think they could turn one floor into rooms for rent during multi-day shopping sprees and be booked a year in advance!

OMGAH, I wish I lived in NY!!! I would be in heavennnnn.

  17. ari says:

nice the hours are really cool, and somewhat convinient, however seems sooo over whelming! that is a lot of stuff to browse through…. I!

  18. ad23 says:

The store is awesome so far nice and neat, don't know how long that will last. and even though SOME lines were long the store is so big you can go to another floor and there was no wait for a fitting room.
Although the store is huge they have alot of the same merchandise on different floors. I think you need a good 2 hours to shop in here… you get tired really fast! lol

  19. Stina-Joy says:

My fave store! Did not know that there's one in NYC…will be shopping there in no time…so much more options and look than the one at my local mall Yipppeeee….So happy i only live 40 mins away

  20. Justin says:

There are other Forever 21 stores in NYC too. I know of one in Soho on Broadway that just has girls clothes. Then there are stores at Union Square and at Hearld Square. Now there is this huge flagship store and another new store on 5th ave.
