I know you’ve all been waiting impatiently to find out who will be the next H&M designer collaboration, me too. Today, my loyal reader lucy92 tipped me on a rumor that Taiwanese fashion house, Shiatzy Chen, whose founder and brand innovator Wang Chen Tsai-Hsia (王陳彩霞) is often referred to as the Chanel of Taiwan and is the eponym of her luxury goods brand (according to Wikipedia), will be the next designer collaboration to launch in November 2010. The brand spirit for Shiatzy Chen is “neo-Chinese chic,” and fuses Western cuttings and Chinese handcrafting techniques into the designs. The rumor is also listed on H&M’s Wikipedia page, so there may be some truth to it? Who knows till the announce it. I’ve never heard of Shiatzy Chen before but H&M is known to surprise us with their designer collaborations and if they’re planning to expand in Asia it wouldn’t come as a surprise to choose an Asian designer. Once again, this only a RUMOR with no confirmation from H&M as of yet. I will dig deeper and let you guys know. If this is true, are you excited or disappointed? Let me know how you feel… Check out Shiatzy Chen’s Fall/Winter 2010-11 fashion show, which was apparently inspired by Anna Wintour, after the jump… UPDATE: Looks like Shiatzy Chen will not be the designer collaboration for November 2010. But I think they’ll be doing a collection together, just not sure what exactly. For more clues on who the next designer collaboration is, click here! UPDATE 09.01.2010: Lanvin for H&M?! UPDATE 09.02.2010: CONFIRMED, Lanvin for H&M for both men and women! Click here for more info!

Surprise with disappointment!!!! The most disappointed H&M collaboration!
i'm not convinced the rumor is true yet.
i am actually hoping its someone like Dsquared. that would make sense because they design for men also and are trying to expand a lot.
oh no. not another collabo with nothing for guys again!
yes Dsquared2 is a good one! This would deffinitely be a disappointment…
:
What would also be GREAT
Alexander Wang or Marc Jacobs! hihi
maybe most ppl don't know the brand Shiatzy Chen; it's actually a very high-end brand in TW and many public figures wear it… They successfully combine eastern and western style then generate a new quality look. Am I the only one looking forward to the collab? PPL open your mind you'll luv it if this is true.
weei wei they may be big in TW but the main problem is the rest of the world dont know about them which will mean the same hype that happened around the other collabs-sonia rykiel ,karl lagerfeld, viktor&rolf etc will not happen with this one. for many the collabs are about offering something affordableto everyone from the big big names of fashion…Shiatzy Chen is not inthat state worldwide so it seems like a very regional collaborationt o have.
im surprised hm would choose such an unfamous brand, but anything is possible, plus probably the brand would put their heart to it,not like with the normal hm collaborations when u just get shit in return
Dsquared2?? That's the last designer that I'd want to collaborate with H&M, it's so tacky and eurotrashy, they've already collabed with Roberto Cavalli, who's got the same trashy style. I'd much rather have them collab with Shiatzy Chen, even though I hadn't heard about it before now.
I would actually not mind it if H&M paired up with an unknown designer. This could actually help a designer break out. I also see benefits for H&M – yes, the collections won't be hyped. But wasn't the point always to create affordable "designer" garments for everyone? Well, how does "everyone" get it when they have to stand in line for hours and might not end up with anything nice anyway? And after the hype is over, H&M has to sell a lot of it on sale – people just don't know about this. Instead of hyping it, they should work on the actual clothes and make better garments and keep the prices low – Jimmy Choo, Cavalli were not particularly cheap – with a designer dedicated to the cause. An unknown designer whose career could depend on this, would give it all to make amazing clothes!
just spoke with H&M employees/friends. They just had a giant pre-fall launch meeting, and Shiatzy Chen IS the designer collaboration. Look at the website. The menswear and womenswear is beautiful. Hardly anyone knew about Viktor&Rolf, Stella McCartney, Matthew Williamson, Sonia Rykiel, or Comme DES Garcon, besides people into fashion. I've never heard of Shiatzy Chen, but I'm crazy-excited for it now, especially since it's so different from previous collaborations, where the menswear has seemed to be a carbon copy of collections before (i.e. Viktor&Rolf = Comme DES Garcons, Cavalli = Jimmy Choo). This should be nice and original and I'm more determined than ever to be the first in line for it. That said, Missoni at H&M would be nice for Spring2011.
I will give this collection my total attention but if the menswear is not phenom I will show up at your New Years party Cmas and Wei. Fistfights will occur, just sayin.
This is great! As Shiatzy is not that well-known in the Western world, it translates to no more 3 am camp-out in front of H&M for me. Taiwanese pride.
I don't know why people care about who the next collaboration is with. It's tacky if you ask me. If the quality and design are good, then that should be enough. Stop being such a brand-whore and get some taste, it's still H&M after all.
@Cmas: i have been on the h&m-website, but i could not find any information about a 2010-designer-collaboration. where have you found it?
hm seems boring to me …i was kinda hoping for dsquared…jimmy choo was already dissappointing for me (everything looked cheap&boring),so i was hoping for something i'd like to actually wear.
also,proenza schouler would be cool.
i actually hope it would be another taiwanese designer Jason Wu, the first lady of US chose him for a reason
Many supermodels such as Lily Cole, Natasha Poly and Freja Beha Erichsen walked for this brand
but it's style is too oriental.so, collaborate with Jason wu !
