My inbox has officially filled up with Fashion’s Night Out invites and news that I can not ignore it any longer. I have been lagging to post up event listings sent in because I am simply overwhelmed. I’m starting to clean out my inbox and here are some of the festivities happening on September 10, 2010 in NYC! Please note I am only including events that are opened to the public, I am not listing the invite-only events.
The six day global event will kick-off in France on September 7; with Britain and Korea on September 8; Australia, Germany, Italy, Portugal, and Spain on September 9; India, Russia and the United States on September 10, China, Japan and Taiwan on September 11, with Greece and Turkey bringing the event to a close on September 16. Nine West is proud to host singer-songwriter Joss Stone for two very special Fashion’s Night Out events in celebration of their limited edition design collaboration for the Nine West Vintage America Collection. To kick off the energetic evening, Stone will make a personal appearance for a customer meet and greet at the Largest Department Store in the World, Macy’s Herald Square. Guests at the store will have the chance to chat with Stone and receive an autographed version of her latest album. Later in the evening, Stone will make her way to the Nine West flagship store in midtown to perform a very special in-store concert that is not to be missed. In addition to performing all of her chart-topping hits, the Grammy Award-Winning recording artist will also perform her brand new song “Back In Style”, which was written and recorded exclusively for the Nine West Fall 2010 Vintage America Collection.
Shoe lovers will have the chance to purchase Joss’ limited edition styles at both Fashion’s Night Out events. A portion of all proceeds from the collection will be donated to Soles4Souls, a non-profit charity organization that facilitates the donation of shoes to aid those in need worldwide.

In celebration of Fashion’s Night Out, Tracy Reese presents a night of dancing, fashion and beauty at her flagship boutique in New York’s Meatpacking District, 641 Hudson Street, from 6pm to 11pm. Tracy will host a dance-a-thon, inviting guests to compete and show-off their best dance moves to different musical genres. Guests can sign up as a dancer before the festivities by emailing FNO@tracyreese.com. Guest DJ Rajni Jacques of Nylon will spin as the audience judges and prizes will be awarded to the best dancers. 3.1 phillip lim has partnered with fellow designers and SoHo neighbors, Marcus Wainwright and David Neville of Rag & Bone, for a mini block party on Mercer Street – a night of fashion, music and fun outside the SoHo flagship store. The night includes a special performance by one of Phillip’s favorite bands, My Gold Mask, inside the 3.1 phillip lim store. The Chicago duo, Gretta Rochelle (drummer/vocalist) and Jack Armondo (guitarist) are known for creating raucous tunes with howling vocal melodies and guttery guitar riffs that pound, thrash and attack. Two of the band’s songs were featured in the Fall/Winter 2010 women’s runway show soundtrack and they will be unveiling their new single at the store performance.
In addition, Phillip will be on hand at the store to greet our guests and offer personal styling advice. Matt Creed will be playing music outside the stores, while BLT GO Burger and Van Leeuwen ice cream trucks will be serving complimentary treats. Fashion’s Night Out with Danny Roberts
This season, W Hotels has enlisted renowned fashion illustrator Danny Roberts, of igor + andre fame, to create a limited-edition canvas tote bag in honor of fashion’s biggest night. The only way for consumers to get one is to stop by W Hotels The Store at W Times Square on Fashion’s Night Out from 5-8 PM.
Danny himself will be on hand to sign the bags of the first 100 customers who make a purchase at the store. The Plaza Hotel has partnered with the Council of Fashion Designers of America’s { CFDA Fashion Incubator }, an initiative designed to support the next generation of fashion designers in New York City, and will launch a pop-up shop for the ten emerging designers from its program. This will be the first time the Fashion Incubator group will be showcased together in a retail environment.
The Shops at The Plaza will host the CFDA Fashion Incubator Pop-up Shop through the end of September 2010. On Fashion’s Night Out from 6 pm to 8 pm, each designer will present a retail space especially curated for the evening, and will offer everything from one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces to exclusive ready-to-wear pieces.
Grammy Award winner Corrine Bailey Rae will headline the special evening with a public performance in the legendary Palm Court from 8 pm to 9 pm. Thierry Mugler invites you to Saks Fifth Avenue in NYC during Fashion’s Night Out on September 10th from 6-11pm to view the famous Motorcycle Bustier as worn by Beyoncé for her I AM.Sasha Fierce album. This legendary couture piece was first shown in the designer’s Prêt-á-Porter Spring/Summer 1992 Collection, worn by model Niki Taylor. The same year, it appeared in George Michael’s iconic fashion-centric, supermodel-filled, music video for his hit song “Too Funky.” In 2008 the Motorcycle Bustier was selected for the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute’s “Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy” exhibit in New York. It was here that Beyoncé fell in love with the piece and Thierry Mugler.
