Yesterday was a crazy pack day, my last stop of the night before heading to dinner was to Madewell‘s new store opening at 115 5th Avenue. The store was packed with fashionistas and it seriously had the best snacks, Momofuku Milk Bar cookies, macaroons, pretzels, cupcakes, The Meatball Shop, lemonade and much more. If I didn’t have dinner I would of filled myself up with all the yummies, besides good eats The Bumbys were there giving appraisals, this was my 2nd one from Jill Bumby.

I love the design and displays of the store, it’s the largest store – 2 floors at 6500 square feet. I was told that this store has been designed by their in-house design team to be very New York City centric while still respecting the landmarked building they are inhabiting.  The building was originally built in 1868-1869, and was designed by architect Griffith Thomas. They have restored some portions of the interior wood panels and moldings of the old storefront, and worked closely with the landlord on the complete and accurate restoration of the entire 19th street façade, opening up 10 double height historic windows that had been closed off for decades. Everything was just perfect, I really like how the store looks. The merchandising is great too.

During the first two weeks of opening, Madewell will host a pop-up shop “Hometown Heroes,” of their favorite New York brands including: JF&Sons, Top Hat, Love Adorned, Erie Basin, Jen Beckman 20×200 project, In God We Trust, Albertine, Brady & Kowalski, Other Music, Bowery Lane Bicycles, Quality Mending plus a few others. Def stop by if you’re in NYC! Check out the recap after the jump…
