J Brand Office & Factory Visit in Downtown LA

Back in December when I was in LA I was invited to J Brand‘s office and factory to meet with Founder Jeff Rudes and also got an insider look at how the factory operates. This is the first time I’ve got a tour of a factory of a denim brand and I was quite blown away with the operation. Every little thing is done at the Downtown LA factory and there is always someone working, and it is a big production team.

I was quite amazed at the archive, there were some many jeans I didn’t even know where to start looking. They also keep one of each style they’ve ever produced in the archive packaged in a bag. The factory was quite an eyeopener, so big that I’d think I’ll need a GPS to get around it and each section has it’s own department in charge of cutting, dying, sewing on the pocket (Jeff Rudes’ favorite step), stitching the signature J, packaging, shipping, etc.

This tour definitely makes me appreciate my jeans a little bit more after seeing how it’s assembled. The making of a jean is not easy especially the cut and I can say J Brand is one of my faves, fits true to size and fits me well. Many thanks to J Brand, Jeff, Beth and Claudia for the tour, good times! Here’s your inside look…
