I personally have never watched an episode of NBC’s Fashion Star since I don’t watch TV on a regular basis and I don’t really like a set schedule on when to watch what. But after seeing Fashion Star’s winner Kara Laricks designs for H&M I really liked it. I especially can relate to her since she said if she had a choice her entire collection would be black and white, my kinda gurl haha! On the season finale of Fashion Star, Kara Laricks won $6 million in orders for capsule collections in Macy’s, H&M and Saks Fifth Avenue stores. Kara designs androgynous clothing for women, inspired by her love of menswear and an avant-garde Japanese design aesthetic. Best known for her hoodie scarves, collar-plus-tie, she puts a spin on what is deemed traditional women’s fashion. The winning collections are already in stores, I hope when I get back to NYC there’s still a few black and white pieces left! Do you like her collection for H&M? And how cute is the campaign featuring herself and model Joan Smalls? LOVE!
Earlier you’ve seen the new H&M men’s fall 2012 lookbook, now here’s a look at the women’s lookbook! How amazing does it look? LOVE as always! The styling of the looks are getting better and better, seriously want everything! For fall, H&M is all about “minimal meets maximal” featuring sculptural silhouettes and bold shapes. Lots of textures and packing on all the costume jewelry to help maximize minimal outfits.
Key garments: Tailored coat, zippered-ankle slacks, oversized cable knit cardigan, bouclé sweatshirt, long-sleeved dress, collarless blouse jacket, printed leggings. Just when I wished the cold weather would go away I see this H&M lookbook! More pics after the jump…
I LOVE LOVE LOVE the styling of the H&M men’s fall 2012 lookbook, the suit looks so good layered with a hoody! The mix of texture and color is nicely contrasted and makes the suit updated. Andrea Lowenstam, Head Menswear Designer said it all, “The suit is the most important garment for men at H&M this fall, and it’s amazing to see how it can be worn in so many modern ways. Traditions mix with new ideas to build a new wardrobe that’s all about personal style.” Key garments: The suit, turtleneck sweaters, tailored pants, chinos, cords, mid-thigh coats, the cardigan and blazers. Update: Check out the H&M Women’s Fall 2012 Lookbook here.
Who’s ready for the beach season? Can’t believe it’s May already but the weather in NYC is still kinda weird, can’t wait till the sun is blazing so I can hit the beach. I so need a vacation! Check out H&M‘s latest swimwear collection featuring vibrant colors and patterns (Hawaiian, floral, and paisley prints) found on bikinis and halter neck swimsuits. There are also strapless one-pieces, as well as scuba-inspired bodies suits, kimono and wrap cover-ups for all your needs. Fun!
Just when the collab world is lacking some news, H&M announces a special accessories collaboration with Fashion Director of Vogue Japan Anna Dello Russo. We all know how AdR is obsessed with fashion and H&M always puts out good stuff, so I’m sure this collab will be pretty amazing. From the preview it’s looking pretty exciting already! The collection features jewelry, sunglasses, shoes, bags and a trolley at H&M’s affordable price. Available from October 4, 2012 in around 140 H&M stores worldwide and online.
Are you excited about the collaboration? Can’t wait to see the full collection! More sneak peeks and a video after the jump…
Last night I stopped by H&M‘s flagship store for the Fashion Star event, the show’s mentors, Nicole Richie and John Varvatos hosted the event, while DJ Mia Moretti was on the 1s and 2s. The show’s buyers, including H&M’s Nicole Christie as well as select designers from the competition were also in attendance. Guests had the opportunity to be the first to shop last night’s episode’s winning designs, it was a packed event. I was pretty excited to see Nicole Richie, she’s soooo cute and loved her Winter Kate dress. How funny is Josh Madden photo bombing my picture with Nicole Richie haha. Also so proud of my friend Nicole Christie! Are you a Fashion Star fan?
Every summer H&M launches a collection with the international charity WaterAid to help raise money for the world’s poorest people to gain access to safe water, sanitation and improving hygiene. This year is the 10th year and 25% of the sales price of the H&M for Water collection will be donated to the organization WaterAid. This year the collection features Hawaii-inspired resort wear, consisting of beachwear and accessories for the whole family. The Hawaii-inspired collection features flower prints and pastel colors that comes together with a 60s feeling, highlighted with bikinis and swimwear. The collection also includes Hawaii-inspired accessories. All the cotton used in the collection is organic, and there is also a focus on sustainability. There are 13 garments for women, 3 garments for men, 11 garments for children and around 12 accessories as well as bath sheets and a beach kit with beach ball, air-bed and string bag. Here are a few pieces from the collection, this is just a preview of what to expect. The collection always looks fresh and clean, I like the prints and the sunglasses are fun too. I can’t wait to see the entire collection. The collection will be sold starting May 31st in around 200 H&M stores worldwide. |
