Last week, the day before New York Fashion Week, THE OUTNET, sponsored the global premiere of God Save My Shoes at the Paris Theatre. As a guest of THE OUTNET, I got to choose a pair of shoes from their site to wear to the premiere, I went with one of my faves, Alexander Wang Dakota Cutout Ankle Boots. The fabulous Dita von Teese was there too! The rain didn’t stop us from having a good time. All shoe lovers will definitely enjoy this documentary, it also gave me a different perspective about feet and shoes after I watched this ha!
A release date for God Save My Shoes is to be announced, check out the trailer after the jump…
Seems like a long time since I’ve seen the first trailer of the Rise of the Planet of the Apes but it was just two months ago. Finally, the movie opens in theatres today, August 5th! The movie stars James Franco, Freida Pinto and the film’s lead Caesar the chimp (Andy Serkis). I’ve been anticipating watching the movie since June but due to work I won’t be able to watch the movie until next week. Looks so good right?
Last month I posted two videos that showed that the apes are getting smarter, as I mentioned before these videos were developed early in the film making process of Rise of the Planet of the Apes. And remember I tweeted about a 5-year-old ape outsmarting a human college student in a number game? Well if you want to test your skills and see if you’re smarter than an ape, a new iPhone app just launched to test your intelligence in which players can take the same memory test to compare their skills with another primate. The number game app will also work on an iPad which is what I used to download the app, if you don’t have both you can play online as well. Think you’re smarter than an ape? Take the test to find out. I’ve also included two videos below: Can’t wait till the movie releases!
Remember my tweets and post about the Rise 50 summit I attended in Los Angeles for the upcoming movie, Rise of the Planet of the Apes? To show that the Apes are getting smarter, these videos were developed early in the film making process of Rise of the Planet of the Apes. 20th Century Fox hired a research team to build a collection of clips that would serve as inspiration for Director Rupert Wyatt, the apes in the film were made 100% digitally so it was crucial for Rupert and WETA Digital to understand all the ways in which apes move and behave. But after seeing the found footage, it surprised them with how smart apes really are. I kinda had an idea that apes are quite smart and similar to us humans but had no idea they were that smart. In one of the clips I’ve seen on my trip, a 5-year-old ape outsmart a college student in a number game (OMG!). Kinda sad but funny at the same time. In this post you’ll see two video clips that are pretty incredible: In accordance to FTC Guidelines, I am disclosing that I have been compensated by 20th Century Fox as a part of the “Rise 50.” However, all editorial content has been created by me and reflects my personal opinions.
Earlier this month I’ve posted about my first day in LA for the Rise 50 Summit that I attended, here’s a recap of my second day. 20th Century Fox invited me to LA to visit the 20th Century Fox studios for the Rise 50 Summit for the upcoming Rise of the Planet of the Apes movie starring James Franco, Freida Pinto and Caesar (Ape). The one day summit was full of surprises and I got to learn in depth about the new movie which I’m looking forward to watching. Speakers included Fox Filmed Entertainment CEO Tim Rothman, director Rupert Wyatt, producer and former CEO of Fox Entertainment Group Peter Chernins, Academy Award Winner WETA visual effects supervisor Joe Letteri, Chief Marketing Officer of Fox Oren Aviv and President of Mekanism Jason Harris. Unlike all the Ape films that released prior to this, thanks to the technology developed for Avatar, Caesar was in fact all digitally made by WETA. Andy Serkis, known for his role as Gollum in Lord of the Rings, did the back end of Caesar in a gray spandex suit with motion-capture markers and dots all over his face to capture facial expressions, we got to watch the behind-the-scenes and was blown away. I got all geeked out when Joe Letteri talked about the movie, he was the visual effects supervisor for this upcoming movie and also Avatar, King Kong, Lord of the Rings, X-Men: The Last Stand, Misson: Impossible, and the list goes on. He said there are different departments that specialized solely on hair, nails, eyes, etc, every part is done separately, unbelievable! The emotions that Caesar portrays gives me goosebumps every time I watch the trailer, you know the “look to the right” shot! I give mad props because Caesar looks sooooo real, in my eyes I thought it was a real Ape! BRAVO! Besides listening to speakers, I also got a mini tour of Fox Studios but due to time constraint it was a short one. Toured the big lot that was used for a lot of movies and TV shows like The Simpsons, Modern Family, Lie To Me, Bones, etc. There were also lots of sculpted trees in forms of Bart Simpson, elephants, horses, castles and all types of other animals, all in which are done by one person! Definitely looking forward to watching this movie which releases on August 5th! After all the fun at Fox Studios we were escorted back to the W Hollywood Hotel and to my surprise spotted Ice T decked out in white, turns out he was renewing his vows there with his wife Coco…and of course it was for their new reality show haha. Dinner was hosted at the Hollywood Terrace at the hotel, the view was pretty nice and the weather was near perfect. Then party time at Drai’s, they got us cabanas for the night, pretty hot! Last week I was invited by Relativity and Virgin Mobile (thanks Brendan) to watch the screening of Limitless at Tribeca Cinemas. After seeing the TV spot during Super Bowl, I was quite interested in the movie plus I like Bradley Cooper and Robert De Niro. The movie had it’s ups and downs but it was quite interesting, just imagine the pill really exists! The next day I headed to Trump Soho for the press junket with Bradley Cooper, Robert De Niro and Abbie Cornish, it was my first one. The press junket was pretty interesting, love to see how the celebs are in person. Bradley said if the pill existed he’ll definitely take it and try to learn as much languages as possible and then learn instruments. He’s super cute and charismatic, ahhh! Robert De Niro doesn’t really like small talk and is quite quiet in person, short answers but really funny. Many of the press people said Adderall might be the closest thing, which helps you focus…perhaps I don’t know. The movie opens this Friday, March 18th, will you be headed to the theater? It was a beautiful day out and the day was still young, went to lunch at ALIAS with B to get some Fried Chicken and Waffles then some shopping. Came home to a surprise gift from Gucci, many thanks for me sending a bracelet. Tuesday night, I attended HP‘s pre-screening of Sex and the City 2 (yes I attended the premiere and watched it again) at the Paris Theater followed by themed after-party at Bergdorf Goodman. The night started at Millennium Hotel for a press pre-party featuring HP’s Spring 2010 products and of course all things butterfly from Vivienne Tam. Following the pre-party, limos escorted us to the Paris Theater to watch the movie, in the audience I spotted Prabal Gurung, Ivanka Trump, Liya Kebede and Nigel Barker. Popcorn, soda and candy were provided to make the movie watching more pleasant, although I can’t say I loved the movie, but I sat through the 2.5 hour movie again since I had great company. I’m not going to spoil the movie or talk about it too much but it was quite funny (especially Samantha) and some great outfits. It’s a decent movie but don’t expect it too much from it. The movie opens today (May 27th) so go see for yourself! Are you going to watch the movie? After the movie we followed the red carpet over to Bergdorf Goodman, the themed after-party was complete with belly dancers, Middle Eastern food and fabulous Sex and the City 2 inspired windows. One of the highlights of the party was the HP photo booth, I got to take pics with my fellow bloggers, HP PR friends and got them printed on the spot! It was fun times, many thanks to YM for taking all the great photos and HP for the amazing event! Outfit: Zara Strong Shoulder Top, Miu Miu Spring 2010 Sparrow Print Pants, H&M Necklace (courtesy of H&M), YSL Patent Croc Pumps, Miu Miu Spring 2010 Sparrow Clutch, H&M Four Finger Ring (courtesy of H&M), YSL Ring and nOir Jewelry Stack Pyramid Rings. *Many thanks to EA!* |
