Chanel “Unlimited” Collection

chanel-unlimited.jpg

Chanel has unveiled an all new line of bags and accessories called Chanel Unlimited just in time for Christmas. According to Vogue UK, the range comes in a glossy grey canvas material embossed with the words “Paris”, “31, rue Cambon” “Coco” and “Chanel”, which come repeated like the ultimate fashion mantra on both the inside and outside of each piece. Other bags in the line are clutches, hobos, mini and maxi purse bags and a large garment bag featuring “invisible zip fastenings, inside pockets, leather reinforcements and snap hooks.” As if I don’t spend enough money on Chanel bags, I wonder how much one of these babies cost…

Free 3.1 Phillip Lim Totes For Shoppers in December!

phillip-lim-tote.jpg

Who doesn’t like free stuff? I remember when news broke about the free YSL Totes everyone including myself went a lil crazy- luckily I got mine. With the poor economy now, retail stores are trying to boost up sales by marking products down or offering a gift with purchase to sustain the business- 3.1 Phillip Lim has a plan. Style File gives us the heads-up that, “During the month of December, shoppers at Lim’s stores can choose between two denim totes—one with embroidered P.L. initials, the other with a Dow Jones-defying happy face—with any purchase.” I like!

Chanel Classic Bags 20% Price Increase in November 2008

chanel-classic-large-flap.jpg

Just a heads-up to all Chanel lovers and soon to be Chanel Classic bag owners, despite the poor economy America is facing the classic bags are scheduled for a 20% price increase on November 1, 2008! That means if you’re buying a Classic Caviar Jumbo Flap Bag for $2850 (before price increase) the price will increase to $3420- a $570 increase!! Quite insane, so cop your bag now and save yourself some loot for a pair of Christian Louboutin shoes haha, ahhh what we do for luxury bags. But of course this doesn’t stop fans from buying Chanel, I know it won’t stop me although I’d feel a bit heartbroken afterward haha. I heart Chanel!

Will you continue to buy Chanel? Do you think it’s worth the price?

edit 10.22.2008:
Price increase information was provided by my sales at Chanel Soho and Chanel Bloomingdales. I wish it wasn’t true, but several of my friend’s that buy at Chanel has also heard the same thing. ;(

Karl Lagerfeld’s Spring 2008 RTW Collection was stunning and futuristic, and definitely reflected of how he would dress if he were a woman. But what really caught my eyes was this amazing Karl Lagerfeld “Mask” Bag. Behind the mask is Angela Lindvall with those fierce eyes and brows delivering this piece so well down the runway- this pixelated piece is definitely on my must-have list! So simple and brilliant, only Karl- amazing! I hope I can get my hands on this bag, is there a waiting list already (haha)?! Do you love it or hate it?

Other Wonder Woman-inspired gift items are also available at her boutique and online: a t-shirt ($46) and a tote bag ($165) both featuring graphics from DVF’s new comic book. Chanel Mobile Art Landed in New York!

When I was in Hong Kong I missed out on the Chanel Mobile Art Exhibition that Zaha Hadid designed and was pretty sad about it but the New York exhibition will make up for it! The Chanel Mobile Art pavilion has landed in Central Park’s Rumsey Playfield, “which houses 18 modern artists’ odes to the iconic Chanel 2.55 handbag, will open to the public on Monday.” As you can see the crew is still assembling the 700 part for Monday’s opening, the exhibition will depart on November 9th and online tickets are already booked up. For a chance to see the exhibition visit the on-site ticketing box office for limited same day ticketing (subject to availability). “The entire project was conceived as a celebratory event for the 50th anniversary of Coco Chanel’s quilted 2.55 handbag, launched in February 1955. Once inside the space, visitors meander through specially commissioned installations loosely inspired by the 2.55. Yoko Ono, Blue Noses, Sylvie Fleury and Lee Bul are among the 18 artists whose works are on display.”

“A torus is basically like a spiral,” she said of the exhibition’s home, which looks not unlike a grounded UFO. “You start where you begin, you begin where you end and move from one space to another. It sounds light, like you’re just going to float it around and land it somewhere, but it’s very complicated.”

Aside from the exhibition, there will be “four limited edition 2.55s — red patent, ivory and navy alligator, and a jumbo-size navy patent style, all signed by Lagerfeld — will be available at the firm’s 57th Street and SoHo stores. The bags are priced up to $31,500, while the exhibition is free, although apparently no less a limited edition.” via WWD

I can’t wait, did you guys book your tickets yet? I did!

First Look: Sofia Coppola for Louis Vuitton

sofia-coppola-lv.jpg

IHT has the first look of the SC bag in calf leather (pictured) Sofia Coppola designed in collaboration with Louis Vuitton. “The bags are grown-up and sophisticated. The shoes are elegant and comfortable. Her design was “inspired by a trip to Louis Vuitton’s original home in Asnières, on the outskirts of Paris.” She wanted to design “the perfect bag that doesn’t exist”, a day bag that was “chic, discreet and lightweight and that isn’t enormous,” adding that “it is hard to find bag without a lot of hardware.” The SC Collection will go on sale in Vuitton flagships across the world in March and there will be a launch party to celebrate the collection in Tokyo on December 5th.

She opens the roomy bag (selling in the monogram version at €1,600, or about $2,190), showing how there is an open pocket enabling her to grab her telephone. The evening clutch (€800), with its pochette containing a mirror, is “a thing I wanted for myself.” A gilded wedge ankle-strap sandal (€500) was stirred by the memory of her mother’s Yves Saint Laurent shoes in the 1970s. (”I loved the 1970s’ interpretation of the ’30s and ’40s,” she says.)

Thanks to reader lucy92 for the tip! What’s your initial thoughts of the first look?
