Baby Phat/KLS by Kimora Lee Simmons Spring 2009 After Show Party

p1090112.jpg

Rewind back two weeks, September 12th, I went to my last fashion show of the season- the Baby Phat / KLS by Kimora Lee Simmons Spring 2009 Collection at Roseland Ballroom. For Baby Phat’s 10th Anniversary the fashion show had DJ Cassidy djing live and a star studded front row, the collection was an improvement from her previous seasons- most of the pieces are wearable. There were a few good looks, like the first sparkly dress and the safari-inspired pieces, the lineup consists of lots of purple, green, peach and blue. The after show party was super fab, it was held at The Plaza Hotel- that place is amazing! It was definitely a good ending to New York Fashion Week, till next season…

Thierry Mugler “Angel” Fragrance Relaunch Breakfast

Thierry Mugler’s “Angels” (jk) ~ Amber, Alexis and Me

A couple of weeks back, September 7th to be exact, I was invited along with other beauty bloggers to experience the relaunch of the Thierry Mugler “Angel” fragrance. At the breakfast the “Angel” team presented the new commercial endorsed by Naomi Watts, she’s the new Thierry Mugler brand ambassador and also had the opportunity to try out the new body lotion. It’s been 16 years since the birth of Angel and they’re back with a new formulation that will last longer. The new “textured perfume” features the Intense Diffusion System (IDS) so that the fragrance is reactivated throughout the day according to your body temperature- so you’ll get a burst of fragrance when you need it most! The fragrance is a delicious chocolate smell, just like the original Angel- not to mention the beautiful iconic star packaging. Look out for the newly formulated Angel fragrance at Nordstrom in October, they will be the first to sell it!

Check out some of the pics I shot below and also the new commercial featuring Naomi Watts (beautiful!!) after the jump…

Anna Sui Fall 2008 Collection Launch Party

anna-sui-wendy-lam.jpg

Last week on September 11th, the day after the Anna Sui Spring 2009 RTW runway show, Anna Sui held an in-store party at her SoHo store for invited guests to preview the new Fall 2008 collection. The store was jammed packed with customers, friends, family and Anna Sui herself- she was there the entire time! I got a chance to meet Anna Sui and introduced myself and nitro:licious to her- hopefully she’ll check it my site out! Anna Sui also debuted her new nail polish collection that day- everyone was racking up on it, the nail polish were filled in rose bottles- they were so pretty. If you wanted a Save The Garment Center T-Shirt, they’re selling them at the store for $6, I bought one to support! It was fun just hanging out at the store, the employees are super nice! Thanks to Jenny (Anna Sui) and Eva!

On The Street with Bill Cunningham (NYT) - Changing of Sky High Shoes

bill-cunningham-shoes-02.jpg

If there was one common thing that most of the women did at New York Fashion Week, it was what New York Times photographer Bill Cunningham captured- the changing of the sky high shoes before and after a fashion show. That was definitely one thing I was doing, I couldn’t bear walking up the stairs and walking too long in heels- I’d always stash away my flip flops when I get into the Bryant Park Tent. And I’ve seen a ton of women doing the same thing, quite funny I have to say- but hey anything to make your feet feel better.

“Without a shadow of a doubt, the handbag is less important and the shoe and the long stretch of leg has arrived in New York like a tornado force. The women are all in these spidery strapped shoes, usually black, very high heels. All over the city you’ll seem them changing their shoes into comfy flats and putting the high heels away.” - Bill Cunningham

Design Your Own Havaianas at New York Fashion Week

p1050231.jpg

I’m still playing catch up with New York Fashion Week, posts will be slowly trickling in along with my regular posts! One of the fun things I did to kill time while I was waiting for a show at the Bryant Park Tents was designing my own Havaianas. Havaianas sponsored a booth this year to create custom flip flops for guests featuring the NYC skyline on the flip flops with the words Mercedes Benz writing over it. It was definitely a brilliant idea and my favorite booth- high heels may be sexy and makes an outfit more classy but at the end of the day my feet were screaming for help! Although the line looked super long, it went quick- it takes a few minutes to complete a pair. I ended up with hot pink flip flops with metallic silver thong straps- they even provide a bag to hold your flip flops in, dope!

Aloha Rag NY Grand Opening Event

Aloha Rag NY
505 Greenwich Street
New York, NY 10013

Last week after the Cassette Spring 2009 Fashion Show, I headed to check out the Aloha Rag NY Grand Opening Event as I am a frequent on aloharag.com. So glad that the Hawaii-based store decided to expand to New York! The store is fab- clean with bright white walls decorated with a neon light “bridge” as you enter the store. The racks were filled with Japanese and high-end brands that are often hard to find elsewhere. The room is divided between women’s and men’s selections, accessories are boxed in a glass display in the middle of the floor showcasing vintage sunglasses from Linda Farrow, Saskia Diez jewelry and many more fab accessories. On the walls are shoes, handbags and hats displayed for easy access, I wanted to try everything on- lots of great selections there. If you haven’t checked out the store, definitely do so! Although it’s not my typical everyday store, I’ll be checking out the store quite often for my unique findings! FAB!
