The Beijing 2008 Olympic Games is less than a month away, are you excited? Brands around the world has been gearing up for the longest time to put out series of products for this worldwide event. Nike has put out Windrunner Jackets featuring the country’s respective flags and colors to commemorate this special event. The jackets are quite dope, I really like the UK jacket (shown). The windrunner jackets retail for about US$100, as for release dates I’m not really sure yet. Stay tuned for more info forthcoming…

Darkhorse Spring/Summer ‘08 Collection

darkhorse.jpg

I’ve been following the Toronto-based streetwear clothing brand Darkhorse for a good few seasons, their graphics are distinct and they have been improving every season. Until now I have secretly stepped out of the closet to express my interest, their inspirations and graphics are striking and creative. I get a very futuristic and robotic vibe from a lot of the graphics they’ve executed, which is right up my alley since I’m a fan of sci-fi films. The brand’s muse is Grace Jones a Jamaica-American model, singer and actress as seen on quite a few of their tees.

For spring/summer ‘08 two of their graphics were heavily influenced by Metropolis and Hajim Sorayama, definitely hot stuff! I definitely can see myself rockin’ the entire women’s range, their stuff is def on point! The brand doesn’t just stop at tees, for next season they are expanding their women’s line to cut & sew, I simply can’t wait to see what they whip up! The S/S’08 collection is available at Cultist Shop, Overkill Shop and Black Rainbow Shop, cop ‘em quick select tees are already sold out! Don’t sleep!

UZI NYC

uzi-blow-up-doll.jpg

I’m always up for some fresh innovative t-shirts, at the moment I’m loving burnout tees ~ 50% cotton/50% polyester. Burnouts are dope, it has a vintage look to it and the texture is a bit more interesting. My friend introduced a brand called Uzi to me a last week, they’re based out of Brooklyn. I checked out their products online and thought they were pretty fun and creative. I am feelin’ the burnout tees in the Blow Up Doll (shown), Sneakers, Skull and TV; in the jersey tees I like the Bats, Nancy and Queen. The graphics are also available in v-necks and hoodies, check them out. What do you think of the graphics?

Dope Couture Spring/Summer ‘08 Collection

hanging.jpg

What do you get when you incorporate sarcastic interpretations of high fashion, art, along with street and pop culture? You get Dope Couture, a fairly new (their 3rd season) streetwear brand for men and women designed by Matt Fields and Chris Mart. The name of the brand breaks down to Dope which “is a high concept brand whose name signifies an intentional oxymoron” and Couture “is simply a device used in order to show their sarcastic interpretation of pretty much everything including fashion itself”. The brand’s main theme is to bring out their twisted version of high fashion, hip hop and pop culture references to a line of tees. My favorite tees are the THYVES (inspired by YSL), Dope & Co. (inspired by Tiffany & Co.) and Riello (inspired by Anthony Riello), their interpretation is really cute. What I found interesting is that they love designing for women, they are actually shifting focus from a strictly men’s line to a women’s line with a smaller range in the men’s line. For the holiday season they are venturing out to cut and sew for women, so stay tuned for that. The Dope Couture women’s line is available exclusively at Karmaloop.com.

What do you guys think of this brand?
