Converse debuts its Spring 2010 collection of Chuck Taylor All Star shoes honoring music and art that changed the world. Partnerships with pioneering bands, Blondie and The Clash showcase fresh interpretations of landmark moments in music history. The new Spring collection is currently at www.converse.com. New York’s new wave punk scene in the 70s and 80s remains the stuff of legends. As disco faded and pompous rock pervaded, Blondie stood-out and electrified the scene and helped to define American new wave and punk rock. Blondie’s succinct pop songs took music to the next level by mixing it with rock, hip hop and reggae to create a fresh new sound. Led by Debbie Harry, the platinum blonde punk-rock pin-up carved paths for every female pop star since, combining smart, sexy attitude with style and glamour. Her backing band often wore Chuck Taylor All Star shoes and the era and new wave style wouldn’t be the same without the iconic shoe. The Blondie for Converse collection includes Chuck Taylor All Star shoes that honor the band and those who define their own style, with a modern mix of cool animal prints, Blondie album cover graphics, logos and color blocking. The shoes retail from $55 – $85. Joe Strummer once proclaimed “the future is unwritten” and The Clash’s groundbreaking mix of rock, reggae, soul and funk went on to define and re-write it. Part of the original wave of British punk rock, The Clash’s stripped-down and eclectic garage sound stood in defiance to the highly-produced, stadium rock sounds that dominated the 70s. Synonymous with punk rock and those who change the rules, Chuck Taylor All Star shoes serve as the medium for striking designs each with subtle detail and graphics. Leading the collection is a special tribute version of the Chuck Taylor All Star shoe in white, which marks the 30th anniversary of the album London Calling. The arresting album cover designs bring rock-ready graphics to Converse rubber. Combat rock references abound on fresh high-tops with clean Clash skull and cross bones logos. A simple version of classic Chucks in olive drab punctuates the band’s revolutionary style with campaign pins fastened to military drab uppers. The shoes retail from $50 – $90. Earlier I posted a pic of figure skater Johnny Weir in mid-axel sporting a full crochet knit jumpsuit by Rodarte’s Kate and Laura Mulleavy, shot by photographer Ryan McGinley. The portfolio features 13 Olympians from the Winter Olympics for The New York Times Magazine wearing knit garments designed by Rodarte, due out in the magazine this Sunday. In the meantime, NYT’s T Magazine blog got more images of the outfits and an interview with the Mulleavy sisters up, the photos features snowboarders Shaun White, Kelly Clark and Hannah Teter to the freestyle skier Jeret “Speedy” Peterson in custom Rodarte knitwear. Amazing stuff as usual, can’t wait to check out the photos when it releases. More pics after the jump…
After the amazing Acne Atacoma Black Metal Wedge, here comes Acne’s pre-fall 2010 wedges! I’m so obsessed with them, they’re so gooooood! The colors, shape, height, zipper detail and straps are simply amazing, they’re calling my name. I think I may need to get a pair when it releases, now I just gotta see which color- they’re all so nice! Do you like? Which color would you choose? More pics after the jump…
On Monday I introduced my friend’s new footwear and handbag line, SuYoon, earlier this week I went by to COMPASS to check out the collection in person and it looks even better in person. The shoes are all hand made and are real leather, and features sport-inspired details, EVA rubber inserts, knee pads, and color-blocking executions. The shoes came out sexy and fresh, love that it will be comfy as well. My favorites are the wedge, pumps and knee-high boots, and not to forget the bags are pretty dope too. Can’t wait till the collection drops! More pics after the jump…

I love my BlackBerry to death but sometimes I’m so jealous of all the cool iPhone apps. I’ve gotten some emails with new iPhone/iPod Touch apps, just thought you guys would want to check them out. G-Star launches iPhone app to discover New York City during Fashion Week, the app helps visitors to discover, and share, the trendiest hotspots during New York Fashion Week – and, best of all, it’s free of charge! The RAW City Guide New York app reveals the tastiest restaurants, the coolest bars and clubs, the hippest stores and the hottest art galleries. All these locations are chosen for a youthful audience of art, design and fashion lovers, and via GPS everything is shown on Google Maps, so you’ll never be lost. During Fashion Week, G-Star’s young team of RAW Reporters (winners of the recent G-Star social media competition) will also be adding their favorite hangouts and, of course, all of the app’s users are able to share their own secret spots by taking a picture and adding some details, so it will be kept continuously up-to-date. The New York RAW City Guide app is available on the iPhone and iPod Touch, from iTunes. In the future G-Star plans to launch RAW City Guides for Amsterdam, Berlin, London, Tokyo and elsewhere.
